amazing I think given what they have to work with. you should see some of the engines they have installed. very innovating group. some will call the cars junk and some are. I would give most a pat on their back for keep em running. watch all the vultures go down to try to buy cars for pennies. I'm glad to see embargo end ! :bandit:

Most of the sheet metal on the cars will be worth it of the tin worm and the salt air haven't caused much damage.

I saw one of those History-channel type of shows about Cuban cars, and most of them are full of hand-made or jury-rigged parts and if imported back here would require a LOT of work to be brought up to our standards.

Please don't take this as a knock on the Cuban people. They have had to be very resourceful and deserve a lot of credit for keeping these cars running so long with such limited support.

The real question is whether or not the unique history of these cars will drive up their value in the condition they are in, and for how long? Will the novelty wear off?

Well it should be too bad replacing a coffee can carb with a real one.... but finding parts for the old soviet tractor engine is going to be tough.

BTW... most Central American's have everything on the car that goes bad rebuilt not replaced. Replacement parts are extremely expensive.
