Fuse or problem with DDM (Driver's Door Module).

Fuse or relay.

Ok so fuses are all.good. The switch is receieving power both for unlock and lock. Swapped the switch with a spare i had and nothing.

Maybe something with aftermarket alarm lock unlock option?

Also, the door key pad has no.light nor does the driver side or passenger side lock switch. So whats my next step?

That is most likely the problem.

That is most likely the problem.

Should i rule out the keypad it self and the ddm?

Take the non factory parts out of the equation first, then start PD.

This is interesting - 30 minutes ago I started w/same problem with door looks. The trunk is also not opening from the fob or the door switch. The aftermarket alarm status light is not blinking and just before I parked the car and found this problem the ABS light was on! I just finished a night shift so this will have to wait - probably until the blizzard in NY is over!

My trunk opens from the remote. Did not try it from the door switch. Does your door number pad light up or work? Do your lock switches have light?

After an install (battery)at the local dealership, had an incedent when driving where the warning lights breifly came on (chimed) after underway right after start.
Made first stop, only to come back to car not awnsering fob,and upon manual unlock, found relays buzzing, interior lights not working, nor awnsering a "key on" or "start".
Ripped battery negative loose, waited for heartrate to settle, hooked back up and has been OK since.
I found a "Sloppy" install on my new battery (terminals weren't even cleaned) so I assumed it was a low voltage situation.
Good luck running down your problem....Wanna MM

Number pad inoperative but did not check the switch lighting before the alarm armed itself! Have not tried to open again since tha alarm only disarms w/key fob remote!

All your door lock actuators and the luggage compartment switch & solenoid are controlled by the DDM. Check fuse F1.8 in the BJB.

This fuse was visually checked and with a prob. Fuse is all good. Alarm shop.closed early today.

Then either your DDM has failed or it's something to do with your aftermarket alarm.

Exactly why I told him to take out the aftermarket stuff.....

I will have them check it out tomorrow. They closed today due to our beautiful snow blizzard.

If it isn't a fuse or the aftermarket alarm, I wonder if the wires that run through the door to door frame got mangled.

Well, not sure if its the alarm yet. I will be driving by the alarm shop tomorrow. As per the ddm, is there a way to test this and see if power is being sent out of it?

crownvic05
01-27-2015, 04:12 PM
Or if its receiving power from the alarm? Which wire?

Thanks but will have it as a spare. Happens that the issue was not the alarm nor the ddm. Problem was a hot wire color(lightblue/white) that wasnt sending power to.the ddm. Its good off the engine block fuse panel but some where from there to the firewall it got either cut or crimped.for now just ran a wire with a inline fuse to solve the issue. Guess i will have to dissemble the front in the spring and inspect all wires.

I should also say that maybe a year ago my wiper motor stopped working and wasnt receiving power either. There must be a spot some where where the wires are getting chewed up. Not good.

The wires that go from the fuse box and runs thru the front of the radiator is called what? Ive been searching online but cant seem to find anything. Is there some kind of plug inbetween this?

Check the connector and wires at the front left (drivers side) harness. It's around the headlight / air compressor area.

The ABS appears to be a separate issue - as the pads are very low and they were a very "dirty" compound I'm hoping that I just have a dirty wheel sensor.

On to the DDM.

Finally got around to checking fuses (delay due to weather/snow removal at the hospital where I work).

Under hood fuse # 8 - DDM 20 amp fuse was blown. Replaced fuse (purchased many extras just in case!), reconnected ground cable on battery and turned off the ____ing alarm!!!!

All lock/unlock functions work from doors and key fob. Locked the trunk release switch on the door - this was the last function used before the fuse blew.

Put the alarm in valet mode until all issues fully resolved. Will check the door switch and brakes when the weather is a little warmer and update again.

Good man. wish my door lock issue would have been so simple to fix. I still have to remove the front bumper and inspect all my wires and find where and how the problem started.

I'm still not sure what blew the first fuse - I may be following you down that trouble shooting road yet!

Krytin

The fuse hasn't blown again but the looks only work intermittently. Looks like I'l b tracing the wire back to the fuse!
What was that color code on the hot lead again?

Krytin

Should be the same - it's a place to start. I'll check it from the fuse side first and see what the color code is there. Just not today!

being that we are in lock switch issues, I just realized that both my driver side and passenger side lock switch does not have light. It had light before this happen. What can it be? Is there a seprate wire that gives the switch light?

crownvic05
02-04-2015, 05:35 PM
So just went out to test another lock.switch i had and it lite up good and bright and then after 3 secounds it dimmed. Removed.the test switch and put back the one that was on and it did the same. Can it be the switches it self or maybe a plug issue?

Krytin

Not having any problems with the lights in the switches. It's already snowing here so I won't be looking at it today.

So the power in to the door module was none existent - line was hot at the fuse under the hood but went dead somewhere between the fuse and the door. The lines going into the door were okay.

I could not locate the line in the bundle in enough places to find the actual break so I ran a new line from the under hood fuse to the module in the door - not the way I wanted to do it but it works fine and still uses the same fuse.
Nice to be able to use the power locks and trunk release again!
