Hey guys,
While the black beauty hibernates I've been driving a kickass beater 1986 5.0 V8 EFI Lariat F150. I love not caring about salt!!
Lately the truck chugs heavily when starting warm. Cold start it turns right over no problem. It sounds like its under too much load to turn and will make one or two chugs over but fail to start. Also the starter solenoid and lead wire to the starter get quite hot when it fails to start. If I drive it to operating temp and park with the hood popped it will cool down in about 15 minutes to where it will barely turn over. Motor doesn't run hot and aside from banging into overdrive everything else on the truck works well.
Truck has a brand new battery ( problem existed before this was installed).
I have a set of plugs and wires that will go in tomorrow
I figure its one of these problems but figured I'd ask y'all and see if anyone's dealt with this before on here before I start ripping things out.
Starter cant handle the heat
Wires or connections are loose
Timing is advanced a smidge too far
Fuel Pressure Regulator is bad or absorbing too much heat?
Solenoid is old and cant take the heat
Help appreciated!! Thanks in advance! This is my first 5.0.:help:
