Is it a black box mounted under the package tray or front part of trunk on driver side?
That is the subwoofer..or is it in a plastic box on the left floor above the deepest part of trunk? that is the cd changer

Drivers side mounted to the rear deck would be the sub and amp. Plastic box with a silver i believe amp mounted to it.

Yes there is a amp, the black box houses the subwoofer. Mine has been replaced by aftermarket prior to me purchasing so my memory is a little off on the factory one

If you are comfortable with it, 6x9 can be fit into the rear deck with a little cutting.

If you open it up, take the round foam baffle out..reportedly it helps a tad with sound

The only reason to mess with the factory sub is to remove it, very little bass response, sounds like crap, and its not worth any effort or money trying to "upgrade" it.

Ok, so just remove the amp and speaker when I up grade the system...
