i was going to have transmission flushed out ,and i wanted to install a B&M 3 Quart Oil Pan , and i wanted to go with a Full synthetic oil for the Transmission..

i was thinking of going with Red Line D4-ATF to replace the Mercon V.

i was wondering any opinion or experience with Red Line D4-ATF. or other suggestions of other full synthetic oils to use ,

I may be wrong, but Mercon V by definition is full synthetic.

Nothing could be further from the truth! Redline , and Amsoil are the best Synthetic oils you can buy , ford is not in the oil business, that stuff is rebranded generic cheap stuff.

No, some are conventional, some are blends and some are full synthetic.

Motorcraft Mercon V for example is a semi-blend but they do make a full synthetic though.

I've been using Castrol Transmax Mercon V which is a syn-blend for the past 160k miles, still going strong at 220k miles.

Go with a brand name (Motorcraft, Castrol, Valvoline) syn-blend and save yourself some money cause you'll need 12-15 quarts of it. If you have high miles you may not want to go with a full synthetic.

So my motor made it 256K miles on cheap crap......I say it's overkill!!:shake:

Amzoil gave me horrible problems in a big block boat I had and Mobil I resolved the issues!!

BTW.....we determined my motor disaster was a fuel pump failure (lean...BOOM)......should have changed it out years ago then I'd go for 300K!!

I'm not saying these product aren't better by some analytical measures but in real world performance...probably not??
