In a recent thread, I was guided to use Stainless Works for my new complete system. Done.
New challenge:
I will soon have a new Ford 5.0L Stroker motor (A-6009-A46X) installed in my 2004 Marauder.
https://www.fordracingparts.com/parts/part_details.asp?PartKeyField= 22907
I called Stainless Works they stated they did not have a header for my new motor! WTF do I do now?
Can't Stainless Works take a Marauder 4.6L header (1 5/8" piping) and make a custom version at 1 7/8"?

You need to ask Stainless Works that question. I'd imagine for the right price they could do anything.

Please understand that we have repeatedly told you that you are buying a 5.0 STROKER..... NOT a "5.0"!
You seriously have no clue or direction of the work you plan on. This AMAZES me.
For the last time, you are buying a stroked 4.6 with ONLY internal differences to achieve 5.0 liters. The headers will FIT...
Does this make ANY sense to you now?

If I was him I would refer to it as a 4.6L stroked to 5.0.
From the link;
4.6L based Modular short block bored and stroked to 5.0L thats a 21 cubic inch increase
Kinda like the difference between having a 10" and a Big 10".

Yes.
I apologize for testing your patience. You have uncovered my ignorance to the motor I am buying. I have two advantages in my favor:
1. MercuryMarauder.net knowledge
2. A vendor I trust implicitly (BRG Racing)

I like this: 4.6 stroked to 5.0.

I cant stop bragging to my buddys about what you're doing with your car just a few cities over! Super excited. I know of a couple other marauders that would like to tag along, maybe talk to BRG and see if thats cool?

Not joking; just ignorant. Had you not remained patient, I would still be confused.

If the headers fit an MM block, then the'll also fit your new stroker block. I can't think of anything on the exterior of the two blocks that is different besides the 8-bolt crank.

I had these headers on my 5.0 stroked to 5.3 until I had custom 2 in made.
stainless works can make you 1 7/8 headers if you bring your car to them

What he said. SW will make them if you get a car to them. :(

He doesn't need custom headers. He just needed knowledge that his new block is still a 4.6 with internal changes to stroke it to 5.0. He Is in Nazifornia and doubtful going to chagrin falls , ohio

I will have CA Smog certificates on the Vortech blower. As for the exhausts, I will receive a tune from BRG Racing which leans out the fuel/air to pass smog.
If the car passes the smog test, am good. The smog technician does not look under the car.

I thought it was more complicated than that.
I thought the Vortech did not have a CARB number for the Marauder application?
And doesn't CA kill you if you have modified the exhaust?

The Vortech does have a CA Smog certificate.
Unless you put the car on a lift, you will never know the exhaust has been modified. Smog tests are done at local gas stations by a licensed attendant. Said person shoves the CO sensor in the tail pipe. I have never seen an engine, let alone exhaust, inspection. My air intake is illegal. For the last 10 years, the issue has never been raised during a smog test.

I thought California had a visual inspection as well.

None I have ever found. Smog stations are usually alongside gas stations. The one I have used for the last ten years does the basics I described.

California smog doesn't use the sniffers in the tail pipes anymore. They plug into the obd2 but they will do a visual. I just had mine done 2 weeks ago.

Yeah, they stopped sniffing tailpipes about 20 years ago. It's been OBDII. I owned shops in Jersey and I was a licensed inspector as well as licensed emissions repair tech. We followed California's lead and that was in the 90's.
Lowndex, where are you getting your info from?????

Maybe the OP's gas station smog inspection checker guy only visually looks at the exhaust coming out of the tips, then scans the car. Don't see how they could keep their certification if that is the case...
However, I wouldn't risk putting anything without a carb oe exemption tag on my vehicle in the Peoples Republic of California.

Experience. In Northern Cali, and for numerous smog tests on my 04, I have never had the smog tech look under the car (exhaust inspection), or say one word about my air intake unit.

Perhaps the place I have been using for Smog testing is lackadaisical. The advice from "rauder88" is sound: don't count on getting lucky forever.
* I know the Vortech blower has a CA certificate.
* The air intake unit needs a CA certificate.
* I have emailed Stainless Works asking if their complete system passes CA smog (doubt it).
