A coworker had a black 03 marauder. 125k on it. Bumpers need to be refinished and he just killed the engine. He thinks he let the oil run dry. He is asking $2500 for the car as it sits. I suspect I could get it for $2000. Is this a good deal? I know the 32v engine is big bucks. Opinions??

I'd hate to see the rest of the car if your friend couldn't take the time to check the oil....

A used DOHC motor can be had sorta cheapish. (under $2000 all day, anyway)
If you have the knowledge to do a motor swap and the rest of the car is solid (inside, out, underneath) it could be a good deal.

Repaint bumpers prolly $1000 ish. Rebuild motor, anywhere from $5 -7,000. Or more if you go top end stuff. And I agree with. FBM, what's the rest of car condition if oil can't be checked regularly. Trans? Brakes, rearend? Might be a money pit.

Buy it see what it really needs if it's not worth the time and effort part it out or sell it to someone willing to take on the project.

At this time in a Marauders life I'm not sure full mechanical and cosmetic restorations are cost effective. Espescially if you account resale.
But, if you do your own work, $2k is cheap buy in.

If this was local to me I'd snag it for 2K if it's in decent shape and no accidents. We have two stock motors ready to drop in :(
