Interesting: http://www.foxnews.com/leisure/2015/03/16/dodge-hellcats-are-so-hot-got-suspended/

Yet what is Ford doing... scheduling the end of their V8. :shake: Idiots.

They haven't stopped selling them, they are no longer taking orders because the demand was well beyond what they had planned on putting into production.

It's a smart move on Dodge's part so they can get things sorted out so it doesn't become a huge mess.

Well, sure glad I didn't jump on that bandwagon. Love those cars but figured I could get one down the line after kids out of college. Now it looks like more will be available than first thought. Also probably means if they continue making them the 2018s or 19s will have a lower production total then the 2015s and maybe more valuable in the end. Who knows though, collecting cars for future value is a fickle business. I'd get a used one just cause they are so cool (though I think a scat pac would be the way to go.)

Where I work we unload these Hellcats off of the railcars, direct from manufacturer. They may have stopped taking orders, but they sure as heck havent stopped coming in! unloaded a couple today I might add.

Scat Pack is looking more and more like the direction that I'll be going. You can't beat the price for a 485 hp sedan for under 40k. That new 8 speed is a killer. Made the mistake of test driving a regular RT with that trans. Makes me wanna hurry up n trade up

Either bogus or backpeddeling damage control.

I hope this is correct but given events of last 10 years I'll remain suspicious... :shake:

Even tho some of this is true, they are still taking orders, they will just be behind for 6 or so months. The new GT350 is gorgeous, my neighbor currently has one in his driver.. the sound is out of this world.

Rumor I heard was Dodge had plans to sell the Hellcats in high numbers, but failed to order set parts from outside vendors and ran into supply issues. Shelby is good about getting with Kenne Bell for S/C.

Hellcat owners should dog the heck out of them and then sell them at cost and wait a year to get the next years modle.

I have heard and read a few things that say Ford will keep the V8 and the next Shelby "500 type" will have less HP than the Hellcat, but be faster. I dont recall the 1/4 mile times but IIRC the Hellcats ran 11.8 (I have read of a few going faster) and some test runs of test Shelby at a track were pulling 11.8 and under. Shelby is known to sandbag HP ratings. There is some sick factory cars out there now.

302 HP Marauder? Thats what V6's are making today.

The sad thing is the next GT super car will have a V6...

What's even sadder is the fact that the Hellcat is available as a sedan. Something I'm sure the blue oval will NEVER do.

Ford will still make a V8 option for Mustang and trucks for the foreseable future. But modern V6 will finally kill the antiquated V8. The equivalent modern V8 (which can beat on the street the modern V6) will be too expensive. Just they will get too expensive for the average Joe and then Ford will say no demand so will discontinue eventually.
