My marauder's engine has a really bad knock and from everyone I have spoke with the motor needs to be replaced. These engines are too costly to rebuild. My question is, once I put a used motor in and take the old one out is the old motor worth much?? I will more than likely be using an aviator motor since marauder motors a almost impossible to find. So the old motor will have the necessary parts removed to make the aviator motor work, intake etc.

Thanks Zack! Also I was quoted $2500 from a mechanic to do the aviator to marauder motor swap, seems really high to me no??

Was that $2500 including a good low-mileage engine?

That's just labour. Have had the same quote from a couple shops. Starting to wonder if I Should just sell the car as is with a running car with an engine knock. Car is mint with low miles, 90,000 Kms (Canada) SW headers, K&N CAI, 4.10. Wish I was down in your area Zack I would pay you in a heartbeat!!

$2500 just for labour? Is that in some kind of Canadian metric dollars? ;)
I know costs vary depending on location, but that's absurd, even for New England, which is generally pretty high, especially compared to the South and the Midwest...
I wish I lived closer to Zack, too...he's dreamy AND talented.

Alldata time for long block replacement is 16.0
High end labor rate of $150
$2400 is not out of the questions. Add a little extra time for cushion - thats what my dealer would charge, about 2500 in labor.
Just saying for retail cost, 2500 is about right.

I have a set of 4v heads in my garage, what kind of knock is it? are you just its nots just a leaking/loose tensioner? Very common on any ford mod motor, 2v, 3v and 4v.
