View Full Version : Remember the Ford Interceptor concept? Here comes Lincoln
Concept this year, production next year.
Would have been better if it was RWD and had different wheels. Still nice to see them make an effort.

You beat me to it. I think it's a great looking concept. According to Autoweek, there's no mention of whether it'll be FWD or RWD... No mention of the platform yet, either. If this is still in concept form, It's pretty unlikely to see a production vehicle for at least a couple years. http://autoweek.com/article/new-york-auto-show/lincoln-continental-concept-debuts-ahead-new-york-auto-show?utm_source=DailyDrive2015 0330&utm_medium=enewsletter&utm_term=image-top&utm_content=body&utm_campaign=awdailydrive

Looks like they softened the 427 concept. Wonder what it would look like with the spare wheel hump in the trunk that Lincoln used to use. Hate, hate, hate the wheels.

I still like the 2002 concept better. But I like this one. Lincoln is making an effort now.

Making a RWD car available with a V8 would also help distinguish the Lincoln brand from cloned Fords.

Needs a V-8 to compete with Caddy........and get rid of those horrible wheels!!:argue:
FORD needs a "Flagship" car and not those damn "EcoBoost P-nut Whistles"!!:shake:
What are they thinking????

After looking at it some more the front is too rugged, there is no style or elegance in the front like their is the back. The grill looks like some crap west coast customs or will castro would do.

Hideous,
Looks like a Maybach molested an A8 and the illegitimate offspring turned out looking like this and then it went to the chrome department at JC Whitney.
Go back to the 427 concept Ford, there you were onto something
should have been this. . .

I see lots of win and some dumb mistakes.
The good
SEXY, Sexy enough to bleed out the eyeballs (in payments) for.
Grill: awesome.
Back seat centric: awesome.
Headlights: awesome.
Actual sedan shape: Awesome.
shag carpet: Balls!
Chrome: shiny.
IMO they should put the raptor engine in this. Ford's making a higher output (bigger displacement?) ecoboost, debuting in the raptor.
The bad
RWD would be best but a nearly as good option would be AWD. Everybody that makes a 2WD car looses some of north east USA. Of course Ford will probably chickenshit out and make it FWD.
Clearly wasted space in the back. Move that subframe and the back seat back a few inches. If my monthly payment makes me want to die, my 6ft+ passengers better be able to strech out the tips of their toes in the shag carpet at the same time the driver fights consciousness from being all the way back and nearly horizontal.
The ugly
WTF? What are you guys on crack? a 4 seater? That had better be a folding console that reveals a 5th seat. Cummon 4 seats was volt's top looser move. What good is a boat if you can't smash in the back seat?
NYC is getting the **** kicked out of it on mandatory taxis (n200s). Sieze the day. Win back whole fleets which you so stupendously lost (at least 3 times in less than 10 years). People will pay extra for a ride to the gala in one of these.

My understanding is that the platform supports BOTH RWD and FWD. Yes, it is so awkward, that I remembered it.
Another car for ford to slap an ecoboost badge on. I have a hard time seeing otherwise. Oh and as for RWD I won't believe it til I see it. American Acura at its best. I really hope they don't screw up the Continental. Ford's last attempt to have me as a future customer again.
I wonder if Ford would be silly enough to try a V8 eco-boost???

Ford needs to make a 4-door based on the mustang platform.
If its a Lincoln then fine.

Headlights: Ugly.
Grille: Ugly.
Back end: OK...I guess.
Profile: Nice.
Interior: Decent.
Engine (3L EB): Marginal.
Wrong-wheel Drive: FAIL.

If its a Lincoln then fine.Mustang platform is to small. Lincoln needs to build a big RWD executive limo. Let Ford handle all the wee bitty econo crap.

Not that I'd buy it, or afford it for that matter, but overall I like it. It's, for the most part, aesthetically pleasing. As far as drivetrain goes, I'd like to see RWD and a V8, that being said, it seems they're general focus is towards getting away from bigger engines. We'll see what the future holds, but I think this is a good start.

Cadillac is. They are planning a Turbo or Twin Turbo V8 for their yet to be confirmed new CT6 V-series model.
Ford really needs to grow a pair and start making some vehicles that compete with the rest of the luxury world.

Cadillac is. They are planning a Turbo or Twin Turbo V8 for their yet to be confirmed new CT6 V-series model.
The report I read said that Caddy was offering 3 engines for the CT6, depending upon the various models... a 2.0 liter turbo-4, a 3.6 liter NA V6 and a 3.0 Twin turbo V6.
"Agility is achieved via the big sedan's three engine options. Base models will get a 2.0-liter turbo four making 265 hp, upgraded models get the 335-hp 3.6-liter V6 and top models come with the new 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6. That engine, shared with the CTS V-sport, will deliver 400 hp. All are paired with eight-speed automatic transmissions. Add optional Magnetic Ride Control and the Active Chassis System with rear steering and all-wheel drive to the equation, and we could be looking at a potent performer."
