Oy Friggin Vey
My recently rebuilt trans (less than 500 miles on it) developed an issue today. Stumbles between shifts and harsh shift into next gear. Does it 1-2 and 2-3 and I think 3-4
Checked fluid - full and unburnt - taking it to trans shop in the a.m. - any ideas??

assuming there are NO codes stored and all the pressures are correct, I would guess its a valve body issue.

The for the responses... It might work out for the better. when I first had the transmission rebuilt I asked them to do the J mod and their response was “we don't really like to do anything that the Ford engineers didn't do“ I just read up on the JMod and discovered it was the brainchild of a Ford transmission engineer so if they have to pull the pan I'm going to ask them to do the J Mod. I've never liked the 2-3 soft as butter shift on the Panthers.

Make sure there are no other problems first. Jmod wont fix any other mechanical problems.
Jmod only works, assuming everything is working correctly. I highly recommend installing the sonnax shift valves and installing the Superior tuff plate on the valve body.

DO NOT remove any of the accumulator springs and drill hole #2 with 7/64" bit
drill hole #4 and #5 with .113-.115" for a firm 2-3 shift

Fixed. Shop said they "adjusted the lock up"
I am not transmission proficient but I just hope the problem doesn't come back and I hope the 10 or so miles I drove it with the shuddering between shifts didn't damage anything

Unless there's something else broken, in which case it probably still is...

Not much I can recommend with out knowing exactly what happened and what the repair shop found wrong.
OP never mentioned shudder in his original post, all I can think of is they installed a Sonnax shift valve for the TCC bypass.

Either way, glad the fixed the issue with out a lot of headache
