I received a note back from my hotel contact at South Point Hotel. She did confirm that the email message is automatically generated and the resort fee is waived:
The resort fee note is just a template on all the reservation confirmations, however if they look at their total room charges they will see the resort fee was indeed waived.
Any further questions or concerns WRT room reservation, please send me a note. Thanks!

Just a friendly reminder your group only has 2 weeks left to make their room reservations. I have noted below your attendees who have made their reservation as of today. Your guests will need to call in by Monday 8/24 in order to receive the group rates, once the cut off has passed they will have to pay the Hotels current rate so I would suggest sending a reminder.

SWEET.
Black (Bain) is getting tuned tommorrow... Plus 1/2 coil cut, kybs, sway bar, lubbed holders, locks, car fixer alignment... If I like the way he drives... You might get to meet him in Vegas!
Can't stop the signal, can't stop the fun, just can't stop it...
