So, my wife gets into a hit and run with a tour bus and my insurance company covers the damage....

I took my MM to:

C & W Auto Body
2626 North Clyborn
Chicago
Tel: 773-529-6500

These guys are first class all the way!

When I arrived at their place they directed me to their work area - a place large enough to handle 12-15 cars - my car was sitting with a huge sheet of plastic over it to protect it. The owner of the shop - Rich - unveiled the car and it looked better than new! he also said all the paint work they did was guaranteed for life!

The shop and office areas were spotlessy clean - even the desks the office people sit at were clean and neat.

They did an excellent job and had the car ready a few hours before the promised time. Because I was short on time they VOLUNTEERED to hold the keys to my rental car and call the rental car place to tell them to come fetch it. They even said that they would find the phone number for me so they could call them for me!

my car had been washed and dried completely [no water spots] by them and even vacuumed the interior. They even put an air freshener [new car smell] shaped like a tree in my car; was hanging off the steering wheel tilt lever. They cleaned the dashboard, and all the controls - I know this because the guy who cleaned it accidently hit the hours button on the clock and advanced it a bit inadvertantly.

they put zero miles on the car [i checked]

The owners name is Rich; talk to him or his sister, Karen.

by the way, he told me he had just purchased a BMW735 but he REALLY liked MY car - I told him he ought to buy one too!

Since my wife caused the damage [she was not injured] when i got home tonight i removed the paper service tags from the keychain and placed it on HER set of house/office keys - i told her that they have to stay there for one week as a reminder to be more careful when driving the car!!

Anyway.... I highly reccomend this place if anyone needs body work in the chicago area. I was completely shocked that the damage cost so little; they were very friendly and made this entire episode in my car's life painless.

Deja Vu?.....looks just like the post I made.

Nice plug...wish I could do that. Be aware it's borderline vendor violation from what I understand.

Glad you found a great service place and are able to post it.

Naaah, thats no violation or even borderline, he's not the vendor and just relaying a positive experience for other owners. He's not selling anything just saying it was good. If they sucked, he'd would have said it and we would want to know that too and thats no vendor violation either.

Yup, I hear ya....

I did the same thing, nearly the exact same wording as well. Kudus, shop impressions, name, address, and contact. The only thing I did different was post a bussiness card pic cause it had a cool graphic. Maybe that's what took it over the edge?

Mine was deleted for vendor rule violation.....

Difference is type of business and intent of that business. Are you going to smack your car up on purpose to go to this particular shop? No. A body stands to gain little unless circumstances out of someone's control direct a person to use their services.

A performance shop stands to gain quite a bit from mention here.

Besides that, it's really not up for debate, just thought I'd share the reasoning, right or wrong, like it or lump it.

Ok cool, I get it. I see how the other shop could take advantage of free advertising. I never said I wasn't wrong.

Sorry Poke. Just trying to avoid another issue. I think I need to just leave things alone and mind my own bussiness.
