Hi Bill here I hope I am in the right section?. Anyway I am trying to decode my vin. number to determine what production number my marauder is?. I would also like to know what gears are in the rear end?? . I noticed the code 56 on the drivers door sticker but can not seem to find what ratio that is?? I have a stock 2003 marauder that I just picked up and it is my first marauder.. I have always wanted one and finally found this one.. So far so good love the car.. Any help/advice would really be appreciated.. Thanks in advance Bill:beer:

Ratio is 3.55
Vin number doesn't really decode anything. It does not give the production number. That can be obtained by ordering the certificate from ford, welcome and congrats on your marauder ownership

Anyway I am trying to decode my vin. number to determine what production number my marauder is?.
Here's the VIN decoder that came with my certificate from the Ford Performance Group (FPG)
2MEHM75V03X000000
2ME = Ford Motor Company of Canada (i.e. 2=Canada, M= Mercury). If the 3rd digit is "H" it was an incomplete vehicle from the factory (i.e. it was shipped out for the moonroof install [2004's only])
H= Active Safety belts (all positions), Driver and Passenger air bags plus passenger side air bags, curtains, or canopies.
M75 = Grand Marquis (MM shared this designation in 2003), M79 = Mercury Marauder (separate MM designation added in 2004)
V= 4.6L 302 HP DOHC V-8 Mercury Marauder only
0 (i.e. 9th digit is a check digit 0-9)
3 = Model Year (3 is 2003, 4 is 2004)
X = St. Thomas Assembly Plant
000000 = Sequence Code
The sequence ending tells you nothing about the Production number since Grand Marquis were mixed into the line with Marauders at the rate of about 1 MM for every 25 Grand Marquis. In addition, we have found that the cars didn't necessarily come off the line in numerical VIN order.
To get the actual build date and sequence number, contact Ford Performance Group or Ford Showparts per the info in the posts above.

Ok Thank you , guess I will just go and get the certificate.. I think it is worth it especially since the 2003 model year can be confused with the grand marq?? Thanks again Bill

What you got there Bill is not Granda Pa's Marquis, The MM is alot more agile and performance... well you'll see for yourself.

All Marauders came from the factory with 3.55s.
Wonder if any of the PP cars came with 4.10's like Steve was originally thinking? For that matter, what if anything different came on a PP car? :dunno:
