Mopars are by far the coolest muscle cars. I love my stage 1 but i smoked my own car with my dads 69 440 six bbl road runner. Superbirds and hemi cars sat on lots for quite a while. Hemi cars are all the hype but it really wasnt a great street runner that people think. It was a detuned race engine. A solid 440 4bbl was waxing hemis on the streets.

whats crappy built is cars today.. sure they weren't know for fit and finish then but those cars lasted. try to break a dana 60..go ahead.. same with a 727 torqueflight.. they were stout!!!. Ill performing? my stage 1 is what..45 years old and it will still dust up on "performance" cars the are coming out the box today. not all them, but considering the time gap that is pretty impressive. they aren't cars that are gonna coddle your every need. they are drivers cars. you gotta put in work when you take one out. sure newer cars are fast but they are smooth.. they are too perfect. stomping on it in a 440 six barrel road runner is raw violence. its comparable to an old wooden roller coaster that puts a thrill back in you.

Ah those were the days. A relative has a 71' Challenger ,orange, he totally restored and for some reason will not drive. It is covered in his garage and slowly going back to its former state. Cigars are made for smokin' and classic cars are nade for drivin'. Have a loud and highly dangerous Memorial Day weekend.

The cars were so crappy at 40K you had to rebuild it, brakes-trans-rad hoses-a/c compressor- etc or sell it.
We never used OEM because the after market were much higher quality. When we would take the OEM part off we would laugh how crappy it was.

The "Fast" ones were 13 second cars.

yes the "fast" ones were 13 sec cars.. considering 40+ years have passed and the fast ones are 12 maybe 11 secs thats not an impressive gain. FORTY YEARS OF TECHNOLOGY?!

Anyone who drag races knows there is a huge difference between a 13 second car and a 11 second car.

For a MM it's the difference between 278RWHP vs 540RWHP, almost double.

Modern cars last so long most repair shops don't even stock rad hoses, engines and trans can get 250K on them.

I love the Muscle cars, but to think they are more reliable and have better performance than today's Performance Cars is just incorrect.

Those and the Cuda were and still are two of my favorites.

I agree with Sailsmen and Chief though, as fun as it is to cruise in my old musclecars the new ones out perform them by a huge margin. And they are safer while being more convenient and comfortable.

That was then and this is now. Back in the 60's and early 70's the OE parts were crap compared to the made in the US aftermarket stuff that was available then. The OE stuff wasn't meant to last real long since the warranty was typically 12/12 and it was not uncommon to trade in your car after 2 or 3 years.

Now the aftermarket stuff is mainly made in China by the lowest bidder and it is often junk.

Thats not what i said and everything was made in the usa then. I replaced 1970 parts with 1970 NOS OEM parts because the quality was explicitly superior. Same thing when i restored my 83 hurst. The NOS GM parts were simply better. I mean are you talking a specific make, specific parts?
