I bought this as a gear hauler for my band. Picking it up and doing the title transfer tomorrow.

It's a '94 Caprice with the LT1. 202k claimed miles, but the digital odometer scrolls like a slot machine so who knows for sure? Everything works, even the A/C and the power antenna. New dual exhaust, starter, tires, brakes. Typical GM oil leak = free undercoating. The interior smells okay, but looks like someone was murdered inside. The rear quarters are pretty rough; I'm thinking of pop riveting old license plates in place.

More pictures once I clean it, maybe.

Oh yeah, the best part is that I only paid $600.

The good OL'Caprice wagon. I seen them tricked out too.

I hate to bash your new ride man but those caprices are ugly vehicles. Hard to believe the SS came from that. LOL

It's a band wagon. Ugly or not doesn't matter. Late night part time musicians don't need a Lincoln Navigator. Cool for what it's intentions are in my book

Spray paint your band name down the sides. You have to.

I don't disagree that they're not beautiful cars, but as Mark said:

It's a band wagon. Ugly or not doesn't matter.

Spray paint your band name down the sides. You have to. Not the worst idea. :D

Before my MM I owned a 95 Caprice sedan. It was hands down faster than my MM and better on fuel. The MM is 10x the ride, comfort etc. But I averaged 100 km (60 miles) per tank more and it was quicker out of the hole and top end.

Watch Roadkill sometime. they take a caprice and CV and destroy both. Hands down Caprice wins.

To each their own.
Good buy Adam

Picked up the car today and signed the title over. First stop was an emissions test. Passed with flying colors - though I suspect a few pinholes may have helped. :D

After that, my buddy (who followed me back in my '04 Marquis) conned a free lunch out of me since I made him wake up early. He decided to sit in the third row for fun once we got to the bar.

Then we enlisted a friend's lift and did a rear cat delete on his '99 Mercury and threw some rear shocks in the Caprice. I went with cheap-ass Monroe Gas-Matic shocks because they were in stock. Not the best, obviously, but they corrected the hilarious wavy-gravy ride. Here I am, spinning a ratchet while another pal looks on.

That job was kind of an ass pain. Those top bolts aren't fat-hand-friendly.

While doing the shocks, we found a lot of rust in unexpected places, and a bunch of leaks. I will probably just keep the thing topped off for now. Optispark is already wet, so I'm guessing a water pump and new Opti will be in order sometime in the next 3 months. No big deal.

Got home around sunset and drank a beer on the roof of the car.

Band wagon.....

:hmmm:

Most important question:

Do the seats fold flat so that an air mattress fits in the back?

(Then you could really refer to the wagon as a 'woodie'!)

I've owned a 95 Caprice police package with the 4.3 v8. I enjoyed that car very much until I wrecked it in Miami years ago. Dam I really liked that car.

i beat my boy's slightly modded (gears, intake, exh) 96 SS with my Marauder when i was still stock. hands down is a bold statement. i'd say they are a toss up at any given time.

In the 1/4 based on the times posted it comes down to the driver.

That's how it is with my Impala, just destroys the MM on acceleration, especially top end but the MM has way more creature comforts and is obviously a newer car with a much more reliable stock trans.

The rusty wheels started to bother me. I went out in my garage and found a few mostly-empty cans of black spray paint, and a can of silver that was at least ten years old and barely had anything in it.

Better than it was, I guess:

The Impala has redonkulous amounts of torque like all Chevy small blocks, 330 at the crank if I remember. Just enough to slide you around in the terrible seats and pray to God they don't break.

After one gig, it was painfully obvious that the Caprice wasn't large enough to hold all of our equipment.

I put it on Craigslist and it sold quickly, with a couple extra bucks in my pocket.

The search is on for a cheap van now.

Well that sucks. The next guy to drive it didn't get more than one or two drug runs out of the Caprice. And why so few parts pulled off it in five days? All the pick and pulls that I've been to pick cars quick.

Power, not handling. And it wouldn't win on power either against the DOHC Marauder. Which is not to say the Marauder shouldn't have shipped with a blower as intended.
