Hey everybody anyone with the moog #80668 front coils? Do you like them as oem replacements? I recently cut one coil off and have bottomed out about 3 times on the side of the fender and plastic inner fender well ripping a small chunk out of my tire. I just don't want to worry about hitting bumps and ripping off my chin spoiler. So I got new kyb gas struts and wanted to order the new coils and cut 3/4 or another coil off. The old coils were probably factory so I got a good drop prolly 3/4 inch between tire and fender. The struts alone prolly won't help that much so give me some ideas!

I'm pretty sure member Curless has moog coils with 1 coil cut

I have these springs and enjoy the ride with no coils cut.
I would buy Detroit Springs made 1" shorter, rather than alter the stock Moog springs design.
I took 1 cut stock coil springs out because - it bounced crappy, and was too low.

tell them your factory spring specs by make/model, or spring rate you desire - they should be able to make them at a lowered height.

2004 CV springs as example:

I've heard a lot of things about Eaton springs; some good, but a lot of bad. Mostly stuff about the drops being nowhere close to the advertised height.

Geoff, you prolly needed to upgraded to kyb front shocks, thats what the eibach ones do as the stock shocks don't control the eibach springs, possibly same with cut coil..although mine are cut and seems fine to me.
Ditto on Detroit eaton spring, a lot of complaints from crown vic.net site with springs that were higher etc...Much better results from Coil Spring Specialties in KS at CVN

thanks Mark.
I tossed my cut coils because I don't want my car lowered, and they were old used up springs. The stock shocks might have worked with the cut coil, but all were worn on my car.

The OP asked about Moog 80668 - my front end is pretty high for most guys taste, I prefer the ground clearance and great, stock ride quality.

I have bought from Detroit Spring before, and they were just as ordered, so buyer be advised I guess.
I have read other members cutting stock springs and using KYB shocks with end result making them happy.

Do our own math when it comes to installed height, free height and spring rate. Don't rely on the spring shop. Our cars have about a 0.7 motion ratio at the front control arm, but you can measure and verify this yourself.
