View Full Version : Got Marauder #2...and it's a blue, too!

So a few of you may know already; but Friday night I was able to bring home my very own blue! Came across it in a grocery store parking lot with a for sale sign in the back window. Lady bought it new off the showroom floor and has maintained it at Ford for all it's years. She has never been on this site (from what she said) and had no idea how rare it is; but for what she wanted I couldn't refuse. Plus the wife said buy it!
It's not perfect by any means, although it cleaned up pretty nicely. Has 177k (she has a 40 mile commute one way) but all the major things work. And the couple things that don't will be little projects to do: compass inop, power pedals inop, keypad inop, and the tach gets lazy below 1000 rpm. Sometimes at idle it reads zero. Lol. It's 100% stock except for the brand new Cooper Zeon tires which I had on my DTR (now for sale in the classifieds) Plus this is one of my first two color choices and is substantially easier on my budget. So enough talk; here's the pics!

Hopefully the DTR can find a good home in the Marauder community instead of some kid beating on it. Congrats Anthony. :depress: Since she was the original owner, did she cough up the jacket?

Although she did not cough up the jacket; I still have the one I got before I even had a Marauder. When she was signing over the title she almost seemed to hold back for a moment like she was having second thoughts.
I will not let the red sled go to someone who won't respect it; I'm only offering it for sale within the Marauder communities at this point. It has been the best car I've ever owned - the 20,000 miles of memories made have been great and the mods I've done have been basic but common within the community. If I could I would have both...but wife and I are trying to get our lives together and cutting costs everywhere; and its been set forth by me to sell it and get a cheap econobox; but with this route least I will still be able to have a Marauder - rather than having to sell the DTR and be Marauderless. The blue will be staying stock for a long time; if I ever do anything at all given the miles.

You have to at least give the Blue a tune or you'll never be happy. You probably have noticed the crappy shift schedule already.

Valid...I forgot how crappy they shift when stock and I know its a slippery slope; like I might as well do 4.10s at the same time;) But I do want to maintain it as stock as possible until we get to a better place. No more toys and goodies. I can score a new X4 for cheap through work; I just have to find one of the vendors who can and will send me a file for a fee...(hint!) I would try a tune with the stock 3.55 for now; and *maybe* go 4.10s down the road if the budget allows.

...and Blues are way faster than DTRs, too, so there's that....

Emailed tunes are cheap if you have xcal already. A tune with 3.55 is fine . A lot here have just that. Contact MartyO

+1 on that, and though less rare, I like them with flint seats.
Due to your back story, you actually came out ahead!
DBP over DTR = WINNING!!

Congratulations on scoring a blue. You are now forgiven for owning a DTR. ;-)

Congratulations on the find. Although The DBP is nice I still think the DTR is better looking. Sorry you can't have both. And welcome to the Blues Brothers!!:banana2:

Congratulations to your awesome score Anthony, looks like a really clean car for its miles. I personally think flint Marauders look odd as only the seats and roof change colour whilst the rest stays black, it would probably look much better if the rest was flint too.
I would love the DTR as its my favourite colour, hope it goes to a caring new home!

Great find! Color will always be a matter of preference, but when you prefer blue finding one that's available is extra sweet! I'm still tickled with my blue/light flint combination... 11 1/2 years later!
Oh, tune with 3.55s is a great step. I did that pre-Trilogy and the difference over the factory tune was vivid.

Order the Ford Racing certificate to see where it falls in the production.

So as if one "unknown" blue wasn't rare enough...I have acquired a second one! Again; as far as I know owner never had been on forum or anything else. So that makes two blues and a DTR now; and not enough space. But in my defense the wife told me to buy both blues and keep one but help the other two find good homes. So the lightly modded DTR is for sale; an one of the blues will be - just don't know what one yet. Somehow I go 12 years wanting one; and get 3 in two years...4183441835
