Out of curiosity anyone wanting to share about what sparked the marauder interest for you?

For me....I must of have been like age 20 driving to work.....as I'm driving in the freeway i see a a black marauder( at the time I didn't know about it) entering the freeway, and it was a biker type dude with the tattoo sleeves and the long beard with dark shades. I thought to myself wow.... That dude right there is doing it....whatever he's doing, he's doing it right. Since then I was hooked like if I had been starstruck and the savings began along with the pursuit and here I'm now on my third marauder and all because that one morning commuting to work.

I was at the New York Auto Show in December of 2003. The car just spoke to me.
I went to the local Lincoln-Mercury dealer that April of 2004. The salesman never heard of a Marauder. When I told him that it was indeed a Ford product, another salesman said he thinks he had a flyer. I sat with salesman #2 and ordered the car.
It arrived in mid-May.
I started to modify it by mid-June. It has been a work in progress... along with five Mustangs.

I had 5 CV's (4 Silver ones) over a 10 year period and traveled a lot for a living......GREAT cars with few problems but weak engines so I watched as FORD developed the "FORD BLACKHAWK"....only problems....it was black and they canned it!!:argue::mad2:

Next came the BLACK Marauder in it's place.......again....no more BLACK cars!!:shake:

The "Colors" came out and I fell in LOVE with the Silver Birch.......ordered it in late September 2003...delivered on 11/25/03 and the rest is HISTORY!!

260,000+ miles and almost 12 years later I'm still in LOVE!!:lovies:

I saw a drug dealer driving it and fell in love with how different it looked from the other cars on the road. No rims, and no sound system, just the car itself.
And that's a true story.

I liked the Impala SS's when they came out but cold not afford one. I was looking on Ford's website and saw they had the Marauder. This was in April 2004 and I had never heard of them. I was driving by the local Ford dealership after work and decided to look and there she sat MY DTR. I test drove it and fell in LOve and she followed me home. Still have her and she is my favorite.

Same story for me. I was in high school when they came out! So I settled for a Mustang GT. When I brought the car, there was 5DTR's 1SB and 4 Black on the dealer lot. Years later, I was able to buy one. On my Second Marauder now...

I have always driven full size cars and have good taste so I got one lol. Was thinking about getting a m5 with a v10 regret never doing it but I'm sure maintenance would suck on the bmw.

Drove a 1992 Town Car for years. I really like the safety and comfort of these big cars. So, I set out for a P71 Crown Vic because the $$ put me out of the Marauder price range at the time. I figured I could get some better performance out of the P71 than the Town Car (until I read about Zack, lol) and customize it as I see fit over time. One day I was searching CL and I saw this black Mercury that looked pretty cool. So, I did some research (which led me to this site!), found out what it was, what it needed, worked out a sweet deal and now have a super nice Marauder. I love this car....except, I need BOOST!!!! ;) :burnout:

Started modding a grand marquis and realized I should just get a marauder because that's what I was after. Supercharged it so I can pass people on the way into work.

First one in 1981: Never heard of a Marauder before, but I liked the body and interior, the price, and that fact that it had a factory 405 horsepower engine and 4-speed in it.

Last one: I saw an article and pictures of the SEMA Marauder in December 1998 and knew right then I had to have one. Then just played the waiting game.

My old man pretty much raised me on the awesomeness of the Marauder (even though we never got one) and that stuck with me. Even though I don't have one, it will always be my dream car. Hopefully I'll realize one day that hot rodding my Marquis will still not make it as cool as a Marauder.

I always drove panthers and then saw this article:

http://www.mercurymarauder.net/forums/showthread.php?t=62031&page=5

Then I knew I would get one someday. I always liked American classic cars, big American muscle cars, big classic American 4 door sedans, and old police cars. Always admired the 94 to 96 Impala SS.

My mother had a '70 Marauder back in the late 70's early 80's. I always like BB high performance vehicles. When Ford announced the Marauder I kept my eye on them. In 2004 as my gift to myself for my daughters college graduation I bought my MM new. Still puts that big silly-ass grin on my face everytime I drive it.... like this morning! Will never get rid of mine.

Son was in Basic and I was charged with driving his GM once a week to keep the kinks out...

Pulled into a store and when I came out a Black MM was parked next to....

I thought "What a good looking car",noticing the "darkened" lenses and shiny Rims...

Noticed the "Marauder" on the bumper and did an internet search when I got to work.

Waited 2+ years for a silver to pop up locally, would have paid whatever as I really, really wanted one.

I daily drive mine now, and have had (having) many "Smiles per Mile"...

After being hit by a drunk driver in my custom turbo Focus hatchback which was totaled, I knew I needed something bigger that was safe but also had some power and looked good.

As I browsed a local LM dealership's stock I saw a silver 2005 Lincoln LS which I really liked and then came across a silver 04 Marauder. I had no clue what it was but I was like wow that's badass and classy at the same time so I did my research, joined the forum and less than a week later I called the dealership to see if they still had it on the lot, if so I wanted to come look at it and go for a test drive.

3 hrs after arriving at the dealership and $21,837 later I was driving home in it. Ex-wife which was the GF at the time was pissed at me cause I had bought myself a car on HER birthday. LOL

By far the best car purchase I have ever had in regards to the whole process at the dealership to owing it for almost 10 years now. Have a built motor that's been patiently waiting to be installed hopefully this year!

That's funny because my story is pretty much the same as that.

I saw a drug dealer in my native Detroit driving one. I fell in love with the tone of the exhaust as he flew past. And then I saw another...and another...and another...mostly driven by people who I knew to be drug dealers. Most of the ones that I saw weren't modified (externally) beyond maybe some tint on the windows. I wanted one really bad right then. But the $35k price tag was a bit out of my budget as a full time college student.

Around 2006 or so I moved to mid Michigan and I stopped seeing Marauders, and I forgot all about them. Fast forward to Feb 2015, my wife was bugging me about buying another car. I couldn't figure out what type of car I wanted, until 1 night I was talking about college and then the word "Marauder" came out of my mouth.

I immediately took to Craigslist and MM.net (after Googling: Mercury Marauder) to try and find one that I could afford. After searching tirelessly for about 5 or 6 weeks, I found a 300A in March that was in excellent shape, with less than 110k, that needed absolutely no work done to it, that I could afford, and I've been enjoying it ever since. I intended on using it as DD, but it's too unique for that so I drive it MAYBE 3 times per week...MAYBE. So I'll be looking for a winter beater pretty soon.

I think one of my coworkers here in Indiana was more jacked about my car than I was when I got it, especially when he found out about the Lidio tune on it. If you go to Lidio's site, that particular coworker is the owner of the 2008 Green Mustang Bullitt in the "Customer Cars" section. Even the guys at the Ford dealership were drooling all over it when I took it in for an oil change.

I guess this was my introduction to MM.net. I'm enjoying my membership in the "Marauder Owners" fraternity, and look forward to it for years to come. On that note, I'm thinking about boosting it...but I'm not 100% committed to it yet.

My dad brought home a used MERCURY PARKLANE convertible he bought on a whim. Years later, when I started to drive he let me use it because as a young driver I'd be so safe in it. Little did he know.....:coolman: I LOVED IT!! It was big and sounded so good! I loved stepping on it and feeling the power. It turned a lot of heads at stoplights and got me lots of offers for a little red light racing to and from my job at the Mall. I was so hooked! My next few cars like OPEL and CELICA didn't do much for me, just a means to get from here to there. So my love of driving something big and bad faded into the past along with that big MERC.

Fast forward to 2003, now married and commuting 50+ miles a day in a car I hated, (Crown Vic), I told my husband I wanted something really great to drive. I wanted to have fun behind the wheel again. Being an avid reader of all the car magazines, Eric told me what I needed was a MERCURY MARAUDER. A what?? In October of '03 we went to our local Ford/Mercury dealer and ordered an '04 in Silver Birch. What can I say, I have my super smart, super awesome husband to thank for steering me to the best car I've ever owned. Eric promised me I would love my new MARAUDER and like most things, he was right. I did and I do! Shades of my youth in Dad's big MERCURY!
Thanks again, Mr. Man! :lovies: And thanks, Dad!

Hi LG88

I am a Town Car guy by nature and was in the market for a new (to me) car as my old 92 Town Car was getting a little tired and don't really like the whale shape but do like the Grand Marquis shape, so after looking at a few I thought "Why have a Grand Marquis when you can have a Marauder?"

I lived in Michigan for a year working as a temp near Detroit. Used to see a few Marauders driving around. And one used car lot had like 5. They sure were popular in greater Detroit for a time.

Always liked the impala SS, always hated optispark and that garbage light interior. in came the Marauder. Sent away for the factory brochure. the smoking wheel on the cover of the fold out poster along with the DVD had me hooked. I cut out a pic from the dealer info cards and had it hanging in my garage since 03.... fast forward to 2012. Got a new job and was finally making adult money. so about late 2013 after my school loan was paid off i started my search. March 2014 i got me a black 03. basically is came down to 3 reason.. 1. body on frame. 2. Rear Wheel drive. 3. 300+ horse power.

I graduated class of '02, starting hearing about the Marauder later that fall. For a good part of my youth I drove a white 96' Crown Victoria LX. Loved that car, though I kept wishing it made more power. I was in love with the Marauder the more I read about it and occasionally saw them around town here in Washington state. I remember the local Lincoln-Mercury dealer having one for $19000 around 2005-ish but I was 21 and making like $10 an hour, so that one went. As the years went on I'd check Craigslist every now and then just to see what the local market was like and the listings became fewer and fewer as time went on. Flash forward to early March, 2015 and on a slow Sunday at work, I happen to check Craigslist and sure enough there's a Marauder for sale at the local Dodge dealership. This was the best chance I'd ever have, not making $10 an hour anymore ;). I test drove it, fell in love all over again, and I've been happy with it since.

I always liked the Impala SS, like others have said, and had the Maurauder DVD, etc., but didn't think I could afford it. In July 2003, we drove past North Park Lincoln Mercury and they had a bunch of black and blue Marauders (blue didn't look near as good). My wife foolishly suggested that we test drive one and that was it. 128K miles later, I'm still loving it and getting attention all the time. I'm a little OCD, so can't let it get dirty; most people don't believe it's 12 years old:)

I was looking to replace my 1994 Thunderbird LX and had always liked the styling on the Crown Vics and Mercury Grand Marquis. However, I just wasn't ready to transition to a GrandPa car just yet. My son saw the FORD "Blackhawk" concept in a car magazine and alerted me to it. Later when the Mercury Marauder debuted, he kept pressing me for a test drive. In October 2003, I finally succumbed to the outside pressure and found a Blue MM in Fairfax, VA. Had looked at a Crown Vic LX Sport the same day but was not thrilled. Took a test drive in the Blue MM and the wife was thrilled. Came home with it the same day for $27,500. I think the dealer just wanted to get rid of year end models that didn't suit his MGM/Town Car gray hairs. The son was pissed that I got a Blue MM until we figured out about 4 months later how rare they were. Now he is anxious for me to roll it over to him when it hits 70K miles. It is really at 95K but I am not letting him know !!!

I was lucky enough to have both at same time. Cheby long gone. MM enjoying fruitfully. Done several road trips with it. More to come.

But seriously. Have always had G-body's and loved them. Family came along and needed 4 doors. Bought a 99 Supercharged Regal GS hated the front wheel drive. Was looking for a "cool 4 door". Bought a 95 Impala SS after it nickle and dimed me to death for 2 years I said forget this. (Did enjoy the car though). Saw a Marauder driving down the road in 2012 and had forgotten how beautiful they where/are............ for a Ford product. Oh boy was I hooked. Searched and searched these cars where hard to find! Missed out on a car at a local small dealer. That kicked my search into high gear. Almost traded my Impy SS for a higher mileage super clean car in St. Louis but it didnt work out. Venting my frustrations to my Father he said his dealer buddy found a 2003 Blue Marauder with 30K miles.................... wut? Somehow someway everything worked out and I daily drive my low mile boosted blue and cannot be happier. My wife drives one now. My buddy Turbov6Bryan (new member) actually bought my wife's 1st Marauder a few weeks ago. They are extremely well built comfortable cars for the price. In my eyes there isnt much else out there that can compete with them dollar for dollar. It is a shame they didnt make more of them.

I loved them ever since I saw it at the Chicago auto show and shortly after saw an old man I knew driving one he just bought. Fast forward to 2012? or so (time flies the older you get), I sold cars at a dealership. I was currently looking to buy any Panther that struck my eye at the time when a man comes in and says he had too many cars at home and just wanted to sell a couple. The dealer bought the Marauder but said sorry we don't want your Cadillac Allante. It had a layer of dust inside and out from sitting in his garage, no gas, barely any air in the tires. I immediately swipe the keys for a drive. No sooner do I get to the gas station down the road for gas and air, one of the managers calls me on my cell to yell at me for taking it for a joy ride when a couple separate groups of people were already there to buy it. I said it's not a joy ride it's a test drive and tell them sorry because it is mine.
It just had a birthday. Built July of 2002 in black.

I remember wanting one when they were new but couldn't swing it with a toddler and one on the way. Fast forward to 2013, started looking for one and was fortunate enough to find a Blue with very low miles. Owned by a collector and after he passed his son was selling off all his cars. The best vehicle I've ever owned and a pleasure to drive.

Actually me and a car guy friend were talking about the Impala and was throwing out ideas Ford could do. He threw out a "500" package for the CV and I said Mercury Marauder would sound better...then heard about the Marauder at about the time I was loking for either a HHP CV or TA ram air...passed on both because I liked my 92 LSC too much to trade in...Then the Marauder came out, read the Car n Driver report and was expecting a beast since the said it would lay down 2 2 foot wide strips, "first time, every time' is what the article said...First test drive was difficult since there weren't many on any lot...got in and shifted into 2nd, salesman looked at me and said, "It won't squeal the tires." very flatly...it didn't and was ofcourse a pig from start...at that point with the severve lack of performance, compared to the TA or Mark VIII that I had also test drove, and the nearly non-negotiable stratospheric price I passed...fast forward nearly 10 years and I'm looking to replace my 95 Fleetwood Brougham with a GMQ or TownCar when I remember, oh hell I'll look for a Marauder...none to be had within 1000 miles, then a DTR popped a state up, debated for @ 2 weeks and went and looked...after getting through the pigness which I expected now and quickly getting to @90 on side streets she came home with me...Always been a Mercury fan since I grew up with my Dads 68 Cougar as a DD along with a 74 Torino...I had no chance...

I wasn't looking for a Marauder when I found and bought mine in 2007 with 6400 miles. What I was looking for was a low mileage 92/93 notchback foxbody in either dark green or calypso green. I was a bit shocked to find these cars were bringing high teens to low twenties for price.

I don't quite remember how the marauder came up, but I found it at Cape Cod lincoln mercury, it was mid november, they were asking $23,000. I knew they would be sitting on it for the winter, and I went down and offered them $20,000 and the took my offer, and I even got them to throw in an extended powertrain warranty.

Drove it home that night, put it away for the winter, and drove it from 2008 to June of last summer when i sold it at Carlisle with 33,000 miles for $14,000.

I was putting only 3500-4000 miles per year on it, and hated to see it sitting so much.

I should add I've grown up in a Ford family, and three of my previous cars were a CV, and 2 Town Cars, so I was quite familiar with the body style and size, but didn't think back in 2003 that the Marauder was affordable.

I never heard of it till my boss's girlfriend mentioned wanting one. Meanwhile I had been looking for a couple of months at new Mustangs luckily not in a rush because my wife informed me of a third kid in the oven... So armed with info on a I never heard of and the need for a five seater now the Marauder was the obvious choice.

I couldn't afford new but picked up mine a year old and low miles for a steal and never looked back. Over the last eleven years I made it into a truly unique one to even further it's rarity. Not a drive goes by without receiving thumbs up or stop light chat. The Mustang I wanted would never have been the attention getter this old girl gets.

On the 10th of May 2009 my son Guy had a car accident. While on recovery he bought a 2003 black MARAUDER. As a snowbird, I borrowed the MARAUDER to drive to Florida for the winter. Same thing for 2010 & 2011. In 2012 I bought it. Since that, I'm the proud owner of the MARAUDER and I enjoy driving that car in Florida and meets my American's friends at the Friday night MARAUDER's meeting.

My first car was a "68 Ford Custom 4 door. 302, 3 0n the tree.

Metallic Gold, limo tint.
Shelby Turbine rims
30 speakers amp and a Craig Powerplay baby!!!

Read about the Marauder in '02 in Motor Trend or Autogeek and ordered the Promo DVD form Mercury as soon as it was available. Test drove the 1st one I saw but got insulted on my year old BMW V8 wagon trade off and bailed.
Waited for a few years and bought Trilogy #36.
Then put enough $$ in it to have bought 3 new at dealer markup.

In the summer of 2004 I spotted a young Hispanic kid driving down Main Street here with one. I followed him for 5 miles then asked him about it. (He probably thought I was a nut.) He was a nice kid but had no idea about it really, just told me it was a “limited edition.” I think he got it from an older relative, but to him it was basically a Crown Vic.

He’d had it nearly a year at that point, and it was already a bit worn, but it just looked cool to me.

I called around and found one, and wasn’t going to buy it because I was going to get an ‘04, but the ‘03 on the lot was pre-decontented, and had TC, plus I got it for nearly 11K off of retail.

FYI, last year I saw that same black ‘03 in the Walmart parking lot, and it made me sick. Looks like several kids over the years have destroyed the interior, and the headliner was ripped. One rear panel and taillight lens, along with part of the trunk lid and rear valence were crumpled from an accident, which also had gouged up the left rear rim. The front dot matrix windshield was cracked, along with a side mirror, bald tires, scratched paint, etc.

If he knew what he had he’d get more parting it out at this point.

My dad bought a 96 Impala new, I bought it from him...mother inlaw wanted a new car so I talked her into a Marauder knowing that I could add it to our collection... her car got stolen, but I swung a deal on the one I currently have. I wanted a Chevy and a Ford muscle sedan!

My family always had Fords growing up, but man those ‘94 - ‘96 RWD Impalas were bad ass! I loved how they looked and how low they rode.

When they set the top speed limiter on our cars they knew exactly what they were doing; I’ve had mine on a “private” track and at exactly 127 the front end gets super light and you can’t feel the road any more. Scary, and also BS because I have a bunch more pedal I can’t use.

The Impalas didn’t have that problem I don’t think, and no speed limiter in any case. I always requested the limiter off in my tunes, but unless the front end is lowered or the car otherwise modified to keep it down at speed, I don’t think it matters.

My 2000 Grand Marquis got "T" boned so needed a new one. The dealer had noting like what I wanted but said "we have a Marauder on the lot." A little history... when I was in the Marines at Camp Pendleton in '64 a good buddy of mine had a '64 Marauder and it was HOT. Now being 58 at the time I didn't need a hot rod at that stage of my life but the salesman said "just take it for a ride!" When I got back to the lot I said "where do I sign?"
And that's what you missed, on Glee!

I owned a Thunder Bird S/C, 3 SHOs and a Grand Marquis.

I wanted a car that was bigger than the SHO and had more performance than the GM.

I drove a few different cars and the MM won.

I cut my test drive of the Impala SS short because the owner of the dealer left a roach in the ash tray.

My dad always had Oldmobile Cutlass from 78 to 88 g body. I got older all I drove were Cutlasses and Caprices. I always drove big body V8s because they were safe, in The late 90s and early 2000s that was always in as far as I can remember. I always wanted a 96 SS but never got around to owning one. I remember when the MM came out I was like that looks like the Feds lol. Fast forward to a couple years ago I owned an 08 DTR MGM LS with all the fixings. I put some 22z and nice system and to me it was classy, but everyone had one and the police always profiled that 08 MGM. I didn't want that attention anymore as well I wanted to own the most modern classic that you don't see anymore, thus the MM came back in my head. I sold the MGM and found my MM on a lot in a hole in the wall dealer in Jacksonville Beach, FL. She looked rough, had all the hallmark problems that we all talk about from clear coat paint, to the oil filter leak and etc.... I bought her and changed the serpentine belt as well as changed the oil and filter. I drove her from Jacksonville Beach, FL to Cape Coral, FL the first day I had her. I said to the wife, if this car has a problem it will tell me on the way back home. That was 300 miles, that was my first drive and had a great time driving back. I've put her back to her glory days and don't mistreat her. She not going anywhere. The pics was my MGM to the MM :burnout:

It was back in 2002... hard to believe how long ago it was, but my reason was really simple I am a Ford guy, I wanted a V-8, RWD, 4 doors and the rake made the car look menacing in black.

Buying the car I still own was a great decision, finding this club online by pure chance back in September of '02... I cannot describe with mere words the blessing it was to share my life with some of the finest people I have ever known that I met right here online first and then face to face over the years.

I am retired now with 7 grandchildren and my wife is not in good health so I have drifted away... but I have not forgotten how truly great it was and how truly lucky I was to be a small part of it.

Hate to say it but Hollywood did it, these cars never came across the pond so I've only seen the Crown Victorias in the movies and always thought it would be cool to own one over here. Back in 2006 my parents took me on a vacation to New York, this was my first time visiting the USA and I also saw my first Marauder there. It was actually in terrible condition but it still looked cool, I was hooked! After I did my research and seen the price tags on these cars plus the costs of importing one I knew I would have to settle for a Crown Victoria if anything so I didn't think I could ever own one.

Fast forward to 2012 when I was finally old enough to get my drivers license and shopping for my first car I actually came across a Marauder that was for sale here in Berlin, Germany! It had a €13.500 Euro price tag on it which would have converted to $16.000 Dollars so there was no chance for me to afford it and I had to let it go. Ended up buying my fathers 2003 Audi A6 and drove that for two years.

At the beginning of 2014 I started looking for cars again, the Audi was a great car but just not what I wanted. Test drove a couple Crown Victorias and was shocked at how slow they were, not at all what I had expected so I was disappointed and turned my back on them for a while. Shortly after that I moved to England to work abroad for a year and I ended up buying a 99 Ford Fairlane that was imported from Australia, it's their version of the Lincoln Town Car but it still had the 5.0 Windsor in it which made it much faster and better than the Crown Victoria in any way. The styling was a bit odd so we ended up nicknaming it the Ugly Koala but I still loved it.

A year later at the beginning of 2015 I moved back to Germany after completing my foreign work experience and took the Fairlane with me only to realize that it could not be registered in Germany due to some complicated law that bans Australian cars from being imported. I had no idea and was now stuck with a car that I couldn't drive so I needed another one. What I found was another Marauder! It turned out to be the exact same car that I was looking at 3 years before just with a much lower price tag, it was just meant to be! Drove up to Berlin the next day for a test drive and there it was, the Crown Victoria I always wanted!

Here I am today, still driving my dream car another 3 years and about 30.000 smiles per mile later. In fact I'm loving it so much that I'm currently in the process of buying another one but that's a story for later.

It was December of 2002 I was looking in the Classifies to buy my first car. On the other side was an Article in the Florida Today about the rebirth of the Mercury Marauder. Fell in love with the car. Saw them In person and knew I wanted one. didn't have the money as I was in High School making $5.15 a hour part time. So I bought an 87 LTD Crown Vic for $800. Traded it in in 2004 for the Crown Vic I currently have. In April Of 2015, while Working at a Ford Dealer, an older gentlemen traded in his Marauder for a Ford Edge. I got it for what the Dealer Paid and drove off paying around 4k for it.

The Marauder was, and still is, the Best of the Panther Platform. Yes it was a Parts bin car, But it got a lot of people excited about them. The car is so much more refined then any Panther I have driven, including any Town Cars. Most of my friends just call it a Hot Rod Grand Marquis, And I tell them they are not wrong. The Marauder was an engine package back in the late 50's early 60's. It's the only Panther with the 32v 4.6. I know I dog these cars a bit, But I do truly love them. Otherwise I wouldn't own one.

I went to the 2002 Detroit Auto Show and my father and I sat, touched and smelled the new for 2003 Marauder. I even have pictures of the show car, and each of us sitting in the drivers seat. I fell in love with the car then. At the time I had a 98 MGM Hpp in black and a 2000 Crown Vic. Neither were exactly what I wanted but the Marauder sure was the total package. I looked at selling the two cars but I couldn't justify taking a loss on both to step up to a Marauder. My dad liked the Marauder, but he really liked the Towncar.

A few years later I bought my first Marauder. I'm on my second one and sometime soon I'll find a nicely modded one to play with.

I had always had sports / muscle cars, Camaros and Corvettes when I was young in high school and college. When I got my first full-time job, I realized that a Camaro and Corvette wouldn't serve as reliable transportation all year long, especially in the Northeast winters. I started looking around for a full-size sedan. My brother helped me find my first Crown Vic and then my second, a CV LX HPP. I realized I wanted the size and reliability of the CV LX HPP, but with the horsepower and handling of a muscle car. The CV LX HPP had so much potential, especially if supercharged. I started researching for techniques and parts to make that happen. I then discovered the Marauder! I knew that was the car that I really wanted! Took about three years to find the right one, and I will never forget the moment I saw her. Love at first sight and she has been mine ever since!

I just knew it was comfy. It wasnt until much later i knew how special it was. The couple hours or so i had it wasn't even enough to soak it all in. so the next weekend i asked the shop owner if i could borrow the car for a hot date i had that Saturday, he agreed and said have it back by Monday morning. by Sunday I had a new girlfriend and also a new love for a car. so ever since then every time i ran in to the shop owner i told him i had to have the car. he told me its not going anywhere and he would sell it for what he paid for it, he held on to it long enough for this young guy to save up the 5000 dollars to buy the car some 5 months later. I had been driving a silver '95 Taurus SHO auto for 8 years. It was getting creaky, rattly, and expensive with over 280,000 miles. I was car shopping with little seriousness. I had driven a Caddy STS, a Nissan Altima SE-R and a Maxima with the goofy longitudinal sunroof. Everything was front wheel drive. Then Tom Archambault cruises into my store to upgrade the audio and security on his 2004 SB/sunroof Marauder and it was larger than life! Rumbling exhaust, huge power, and a sunroof. I jokingly announced that I had dibs if he ever sold it. This was a $38,000 car and there was NO WAY to make that happen with my income. The rebuttal was "Find your own - I ain't gonna sell it". The guy I worked with drove a new '05 Navigator and the Lincoln-Mercury dealership service manager was none other than Carfixer. I mentioned I'd love a Marauder and would appreciate if he could use his position to locate one eventually that I could afford. I thought this fell on deaf ears but several months later I get an email from Claude for a silver 2004 sunroof with 13K miles just a short drive across the state. I still have the ad printed from Auto Trader! I got financing online and went and made her mine. She was a Red Carpet Lease sold at Star Lincoln Mercury in Michigan and had a dirty CarFax because of an altercation with a fire hydrant and passenger front door. I used this information to leverage a deal out the door with TTT for $24,300 for a one year old Marauder. Twelve years later with 49K miles on the odometer I still get chills when I hear all that angry aluminum roar to life under that sinister silhouette.

Neat thread.

Like many who have posted, I wanted something 'different'. When I purchased my '04 in December of 2005, I didn't see many at the time.

12+ years later, the 'uniqueness' factor has obviously increased, since at least once per week someone will undoubtedly ask me at a stoplight, gas pump, etc. if I want to sell the car. I even had someone leave their business card on my windshield at work recently asking it I wanted to sell.

Amswer is always the same - no, but thanks.

Like many others, I always dug looks of the 90's impala ss and got to drive one when I worked at a Chevy dealer service department. I've honestly always liked sleeper 4door sedans. S4 Rs4 Rs6 G8 M5 M3 ctsv, name it.

Skip forward to December 17 and I needed a car to replace my 6.0 excursion that was for sale. I always drive something that has some unique factor and I needed another ford since I work for ford. I always knew about the marauder and what it was. So on a whim I start looking. Find several that peak my interest all over the country. I wanted a low miler and was willing to pay up but still hadn't sold the X so didn't have much coin to drop. Settled on an 04 within 150 miles from home after looking at another in K.C. that was garbage. Bought it from the original owner who is in his middle 60's. Got to his house to see it sitting in his garage next to his 12 f350 that's simply gorgeous too. Car was super clean and obviously well taken care of even though the miles were high so I bought it.
The car is a black 04 with 205k miles. Extremely clean. Not happy with the crap factory stereo and painfully slow acceleration. New stereo and 4.30's to come...and maybe a coyote and 6r80.

Everything has a price, when I get asked about selling mine the answer is always yes... it's yours for 20 grand. Obviously I haven't had a bite yet but there was one guy in Austria who genuinely thought about it, not kidding.

If someone gave me 20 grand then of course I would sell it and just import another, better one from the States.

I’m about as indecisive as they come, so a decent offer would probably pry my Marauder away, just like it did my first one lol

I do have plans on keeping this one for a long time though!

Wanted a Marauder since 2007 when I was 16. I had a 97 Crown Victoria and one night I was online looking at the different mods available for it and came across the Wikipedia page for the Marauder and I’ve been obsessed ever since.

I remember seeing and reading about the 2 door convertible proposal - followed it from there. Dealers always offered free test drives - no way I could make the $500 - $600 car payment at the time. Was sad when I read they had been discontinued.

Auto Trader and eBay were loaded with Marauders but they were very rare on the used car lots around here. I thought about alternatives like the Charger, Chevrolet SS, Pontiac G8 GXP, etc. but often found low mileage Marauders on the internet in seemingly good condition at often very good prices. When I found mine on Auto Trader earlier this year I knew it was mine - the owner apparently agreed too.

I've always had full size cars. When I first saw the Marauder I thought, this is it. Subtle style, comfort and power potential. I'm on my second Marauder now. Though I won't own one without a power adder.

I'll name all of the full sized cars in the order that I owned them:

1969 Oldsmobile 88 Delta Royale Coupe
1971 Cadillac Sedan Deville
1979 Cadillac Sedan Deville
2004 Mercury Marauder

Of my earlier cars, the Olds was the most memorable. Completely loaded with a 455 2bbl and single exhaust. Just loved the way the car looked and felt while driving. AM-FM 8 track with one speaker in the front and one in the rear - always wondered what they were thinking. Traded the Olds for my 1st brand new car, a 1978 Monte Carlo - wasn't quite the same LOL!!!

First time I laid eyes on Marauder was in 04/05 when I was 11 or 12 years old. There used to be a black Marauder with no tint and a pillar gauge pod that would visit the convenience store across the street from my Elementary school every other day. I would always stand there watching it drive off but never knew what it was. I always thought it was a modded crown vic or something since I had only been around Crown Vics and Grand Marquis. Eventually, I found out about Marauders and wanted one ever since. Never thought I would actually find a clean one locally since I probably only seen 1 or 2 driving around over the next 13 years.

I have owned mine for about a month so far and I'm loving every moment of it! I still can't believe I finally own one. The attention this car gets is absolutely ridiculous!

I had the 2004 Mustang Mach 1, and fell in love with that engine, sounds so cool at hi rpm's. Unfortunately, had to sell stang trying to save house. So, a couple years later, lost house, divorced wife, and always wanted a Marauder. So, after the divorce, I had the Ford Focus ... I then found a 40k miler black Marauder that I fell in love with, so I flew off the Texas, got her, and drover home to California. Love at first sight!!! Now she has 108,000 miles and I am rebuilding everything I can to get her ready for my retirement :)

Yes, I forgot to say the reactions!! I been stalked by 90 year old man videoing me, rich lady in mercedes flipping me off and videoing, trailer trash lady with dog on lap using every swear word possible, all just out of the blue, I find it funny.. some cops like it (border patrol here in socal love my marauder) some cops don't like it...

This weekend was doing a little road racing in the mountains and held off some Porsche's, I mean we were moving, my big 315s on the back really stuck, when we parted, I got thumbs up and hurrahs, now when does that happen from Porsche owners ...

DEFYANT ran the road course with the Porsche guys several years ago. They were impressed with the performance of his Marauder in the twisties. They were even more impressed when he popped the trunk to reveal a cooler full of beer and all of the orange road cones that he picked up from the course that had been laid out.

I had a Grand Marquis, then 3 SHOs.

I wanted something bigger with rear wheel drive and performance.

I first saw the articles in 2001 about a new vehicle coming, saw one at Car Show in 2002 here in Atlanta, ordered one online from Frank Jackson LM. Two cars came in and 3 people were called to come check them out to see if we wanted them as dealership was closing the next day. Todd Fisher and I got there first and took the only two Marauders that Frank Jackson ever sold.
I installed Trilogy 110 from Dennis Watts car when he won the Twin Screw drawing.
I kept the Marauder for 15 years and enjoyed every minute of the time I had it. It was my daily driver for 13 of those years, so miles accumulated. Last two years I only drove to Marauder Breakfast, Car Shows, Carlisle, and Hot Rod Power Tour.
The Trilogy Installation and Zacks Big Brake Kit were the best mods I did to the car, although a lot of miscellaneous mods were also done to the vehicle.
I sold the vehicle in 2017 to a person in NC, it is now at Sreetside Classic in Austell, GA for sale.

I always like big 4 door plane jane looking cars with power. Saw the ads for the Marauder and it looked mean, but still subtle enough not to attract too much attention. I liked the understated all business look. Same feel as the Impala SS when it came out. It just looks like a big car with a set of custom wheels, but it really is a well balanced package. Couldn't afford one new, and I put it out of my head.

3 years ago I had a seizure on the way home from a VA appointment, and totaled my truck. Insurance didn't give me half what my truck was worth, and I had to go vehicle shopping with only 7 grand. Saw an ad for the Marauder and fell back in love. Had to bargain the guy down to get it in my range, but I got it.

It was a pretty small article in Road and Track about the upcoming 302 hp Marauder etc etc. I was in high school and I tried to convince my dad to buy one, but he wasn’t nearly as intrigued. It took about 15 years, but I finally got my hands on one and I still love every mile with it.

first time i ever seen a marauder was back in 2004. There was a new clean black 03 at a gas station, had a little crowd adoring the vehicle. I didn't even know what it was but agreed she was a nice car. Fast forward 13 years and a friend of a friend had the car for sale. Its now added to my fleet.
