Ole' Betsy, Jean and Elanor...just some of the names I have heard many people name their cars. Some even go to the extent of talking to their cars when they are ready to race. Hmmmmm does that work, does she really hear you and respond to you. Just a lil topic have fun with it :D

The Black Pearl- A graceful pirate ship...

I try to listen to her more than talk to her. Listening for unusual noises at startup is like her saying "Good Morning or I feel good today or I want thicker oil". When I haven't driven her for a couple weeks- the start up is like, "Where you been Boy??-Let's play!"

On a still night when I turn her off and listen to the soft ticking of cooling metal- as sweet a sound as the fluttering of dove wings...she says, "Good Night"

She talks to other drivers too. When a baffled kid in a lowered Eclipse looks at her vanishing taillights in wonderment about this grandpa car with the loud exhaust... She simply says, "Don't hate the player-hate the game."

I love this car.

Mine you already know (in sig). My wife has dubbed it (since the day we drove it off the lot) the "testosterone-laden behemoth."

Wait, maybe she meant me.

Nevermind.

Mine is "Mr. Black and Squeaky" since I've had a long running battle with squeaky body mounts somewhere in the rear of the car. It's mostly cleared up now, fortunately.

It's all said in good humor. I love this car.

My MM's name is Ted Hughes, after the late poet laureate of England. Sylvia Plath, the author of "The Bell Jar" who attained fame not for her writing but rather mainly for her suicide while married to Hughes, referred to him as "my black marauder" in 1957, when friends counselled her against marrying him because his intense personality might exacerbate her tendency toward depression.

Not surprisingly, I tend not to get that attached to my vehicles. In fact, I'm shocked Marauder #2 has been in my garage as long as it has... Usually, I'll of gotten an itch for something else by now... :)

But, I've been pretty happy with my big pig, well...after dumping a whack load of cash into it, I'm pretty happy. ;)

I call my 03 300B MM "Slick" -
Like "Hey, Slick you ready?"
or "Are you hungry Slick? - that crate of bolts thinks he can take you"

Slick then responds with a fine, smooth roar and then glides in acceleration.

Good boy Slick!

Quicksilver. I chose the Silver Birch first because I live in Florida and, at least for me, black cars are a bad thing, and second, a grey colored car is less visible in the distance. I like stealth technology.

I chose the light flint interior because of the outfit Darth was wearing in Return of the Jedi. The grey on black theme is what I'm seeing when I drive it and similar to Carlo Rossi and talking about his wine, "I'd rather drink it!"

Driving this car is like drinking the perfect Martini, you just know there's power in that thing that feels like a cool, grey cloud.
