Went to roll the window down in the MM today, and nothing happened! I cleaned the contacts in the switch itself, but it didn't fix the problem. The switch is working since the lights dim when I press it, would this be a window regulator or a motor issue? Or something else? Any other simple fixes?

Motor is shot probably. Was it ever replaced?

If the lights dim when pressing switch it sounds like the motor is locked up. Try holding the switch in the down position while closing the door pretty hard...sometimes that will "free up" a motor, but if that works you need to replace the motor because it will lock up again.

Nope, motor is original. Is there a way to take it out without drilling the rivets/cutting anything? Is it a sealed unit, or can it be disassembled and the internals cleaned?

You should only have drill the bottom two rivets and the two holding the window. If You want to replace it get the regulator and motor combo. It'll save You a headache. $60 it should be. Just unscrew the motor from the bracket n leave the brakes on the door.

I wouldn't replace just the motor. Replace the entire assembly. it's easier.
Did you get the window to work by hitting the door panel while operating the switch?

Haven't tried yet, how hard should I slam the door? I don't want to break anything lol.

Smack the motor with a hammer. Sometimes this will free them up, but sometimes this is just a very temporary fix. Did that on my 2003 Marquis on one of the rear doors and it worked well.

Don't hammer anything. Do it the right way and replace both pieces.

Window stuck in the molding......hold switch in "down" position and smack the window inside with your palm.....a couple blows should free it!!
I use silicone on a rag and wipe it all around the rubber where the glass contacts it......once every 6 months or so repeat the silicone...VOILA...fixed for now!!:D

Hit the inside door panel in the middle with the palm of your hand kind of hard.

I've had them lock up in the middle of winter in N.J.

I went and actually tried this on my front passenger door when you mentioned this in another thread and it actually worked. Had my LSE for 2 years and thought the motor was shot. To think all the passengers who suffered the south florida heat because that window wouldn't go down. :D

Before you order anything, take off the motor and see if it turns. My regulator cable was seized. Probably need to order up regulator with motor. Cheapest and easiest solution.

If it works you may never have the window stick again....... or it may stick the next time you try to move it.

My Passenger front locks all the time.
I have someone hold the down button
while I use both hands on each side of the window.
I push/pull down the window and it releases.

If you have some light electrical skills you can try to apply direct power to the motor, that way you will find out if its the motor or a bad switch!

Change the motor and be done with, if no obvious problem with regulator.

Does anyone know the bolt size to use when you replace the regulator and motor? where the rivets were because the part does not bring hardware to mount back up. Your feed back would me much appreciated.

Nothing specific. Just pick one that's close and go with it for all the spots.
My Dorman regulator came with new bolts and nuts.

Removed and replaced both sides and best part saved $$$. I was happy with the outcome, on to the next project.
