I worked a MVA back in the day. Her left foot was straight on the dash and the right was up in the corner near the glass and the dash prior to impact. The impact made her right leg go up and her left leg bent back into her chest. She was also not wearing a seat belt. The impact caused her hips to dislocate and I think she lost her lower right leg. It was super ugly!

Not at all. I actually raised this issue at one of our safety meetings at work a few months ago. I think about how tragic the outcome of an accident could be as a result of this every time I see someone (usually a woman) do this, which is literally every day as my commute to work is 20 miles both ways on the highway.

It's good to know that I'm not the only one who feels this way.

It's just as bad if the car does not have air bags.
Ignorant people drive/ride unsafely every day.
Awareness and prevention propaganda are a nice effort, nothing brings it home until they hear glass shatter, metal crumble and see carnage and/or death. Or a loved one is hurt, and now they see what REALLY happens.
Still, some will never learn.

2/14/82 = 3 friends killed in 78 Cordoba: driver, 18 - pinned in his seat, middle front passenger, 17 - thrown out side window, front passenger, 17 - thrown threw windshield. Me = broken neck and quadrapalegic for life being in the rear seat floor area at age 19.
Single car crash, no air bags, seat belts or thought we could ever be hurt.

Same year, summer before - 18 year old Camaro driver crushed to death in driver seat, front passenger, 18 - broken legs, hips, and arm, pinned to look over at his dead friend...low MPH hit into stopped truck on off ramp.

I won't bore you with more...

Happens every year, every high school, every town, kids, drunks, sober - motor vehicle tragedies know no predjudice. But, ignorance will certainly step up the odds.

Yet I STILL get into cars, and the driver proceeds to try to impress me - or show off their 'skills' on public roads. Until I tell them, I'm not impressed, look at me, think how I got this way and keep driving stupid. Let's hear some stuff break.

Not only that, but I think the same thing when I see a driver or front passenger with their little goofy little ankle-biter dogs sitting on their lap, while they hang their head out the window (the dog's, not the driver's). I know they think this is "cute" and "adorable" to show off their little yapper this way, but what happens when that airbag goes off? Yeah, the dog becomes a permanent part of their ribcage.
