I was looking through some older threads and saw that a member here was making projectoor headlight assemblies out of the stock headlamp units.
Does anyone know if these are still available? I tried searching posts and the OP's handle but no success :violin:If I missed it I apologize. I've been a member here for quite a while but almost never posted. Just recently became able to afford a few long-neglected mods, buying parts from members and off of eBay. Circumstances forced me to be a "lurker" because I was only able to keep up with basic maintenance but no mods. I've had my N/A MM since 2007, and I just acquired a boosted 2001 Kenny Brown Panther II Crown Vic. They are both great cars, and though very similar they have very different "personalities."
I know that our cars have been around long enough that just about any problem has been covered here. If I can't find something I need in this fantastic resource I will post and be grateful for your help. :bows:

There is a place that sells projector crown vic lights, cant recall name at the moment..wanna say about $600 or so..marauder lights not the same, no aftermarket for marauder lights..I know of the member that was talking about making them, he no longer owns a marauder and I;ve inquired as well about doing mine, but it has not happened. some have done the mod themselves if you are savvy, A place called lightwerkz will do it, but they wanted a $1000 and used new aftermarket housigs, not sure if they would do it if housings supplied
found a link for CV lights.

Lightwerkz makes a nice end product, worth every dollar, I have used them on a couple of Ford Raptor's that got some "modified" headlight assemblies.

Last month I was just quoted $995 PLUS I supply my headlights or aftermarket drop ship new headlights to Lightwerkz. Screw that.
I will be making my own this winter season. Heck, I might even start ordering stuff one of these days and messing with it when I have some free time every couple of weeks.

Here's just a tip for you all.
Get some grandmarquis headlights and work with them. Grand marquis' headlight assm are the exact same thin as marauder except that they're black inside. But of course we all know that!
So before ruin a set of marauder headlights try experimenting with mgm's.
This reminds me that there's a guy selling a set of NEW OEM MM headlights In ebay for $600. Meth is a hell of a drug!

Fact is our oem bulb lumen is the pits. I can't see much of anything at night. I don't think many get 12.5 volts at the bulb socket. On the cheap a wire harness with a relay would be a good option. But projector headlights would be the best.

You can get LED Headlight kits that are much brighter than hids , i just installed an LED set on LJs Blue S/C Marauder, and they are twice as bright as anyone's hids , and they have bright/regular settings.

I saw a guy testing for voltage his vic and he got 11.5V at the bulbs with the car running. The 18g wiring Ford use is the culprit, and also the weak 10A relay inside the LCM that powers both headlights.

I wonder when Jim does the LMC upgrade if there is a higher voltage reading at the bulb socket ?

I've actually had a few members tell me there headlights were brighter after installed my upgraded LCM, I fact brighter to the point of oncoming driver flashing their headlight at them.
IMHO.... The ultimate upgrade for a stock system would be an upgraded harness from GoldPanter and my upgraded LCM.

I'd like to see these LEDs also.
It's my understanding that most of the high powered LED bulbs have a fan to keep the components cool. This would no fit into the headlight assembly with either the rubber or plastic cap installed. If neither cap is installed the headlight might / probably fill with condensation.

The fan in the bulb assembly is too big to fit in the MM headlight assembly with the rubber or plastic dust cap installed. If it would fit behind the dust cap then your not getting any cooling for the bulb since your only recycling the air in the headlight assembly.
I'm interested to see how they fit.

Why spend 1K when you can get a good quality HID system kit (HID Hi & Lo with 4 ballasts) for around $300.00?
Serge

Why spend 1K when you can get a good quality HID system kit (HID Hi & Lo with 4 ballasts) for around $300.00?
Because stock Marauder headlights are designed for halogen bulbs. When you install HID bulb inside a housing made for a halogen bulb you end up with incorrect light pattern.
The only Panther that had OEM headlights designed for HIDs is a Town Car. If you compare Town Car HID housings to halogen housings you will see that the reflector is different.
You can build a decent projector setup for under 500 bucks. I don't know where you guys are getting 1k quotes from.
