On Friday, August 14th, Marauders arrived at the Miss Peppers American grill in Cologne Germany. The most amazing participant was Dereck Cook, who drove to Cologne from Cornwall England. He drove across GB, took the train to Calais, drove across France, and then across Germany. Now that is dedication.
All in all, there were nine of us eating and talking cars. Joanne & I could not fit our Silver Birch under the seats on the Lufthanza flight, so we had to leave baby home in the states.

I am going to look into getting shirts made like our Carlisle shirts and hopefully ship them to the Euro owners who came out for this first event on non-US soil.

Pictures will be posted as soon as I get some sleep. My plane land one hour ago and I am still on German time, so my body thinks that it is 3:00 AM. (9:00 PM Jersey time)

Welcome home Jim! Sounds like you and Joanne had a wonderful time. We've been reading about your European Marauder meet and look forward to your pictures!

This is AWESOME! No sightings of Marauders in Ireland or Scotland. With the very narrow roads with stone walls in Ireland, I don't think they could fit!! Loved Cornwall on a prior trip to England.

Glad you made it home safe and sound and I hope you enjoyed your final days in Cologne! I've messaged you the names of all participants as requested and I'm really looking forward to seeing your pictures! Would you mind emailing them to me in full resolution?

If you haven't already seen it, Dereck has posted a thread about his trip in the European forum and I have added my pictures there as well.

Late last night I told you about Dereck driving all the way to Cologne Germany from Cornwall England... in one day. How about, after dinner, he drove back home!

Last year, Dereck came to Carlisle. He walked up the hill to see our Marauder Mountain, but he never introduced himself. He looked at the cars, and then walked back down the mountain.

The next time Dereck is in Carlisle, he will stay with us. I will provide a chair for him and any guests he brings. This man is a true believer!
Hey Dereck.. do you drink Sangria?

here are some more pics and details of our first Euro-Marauderville.

if you guessed that Dereck Cook from the UK has the Oklahoma plates, then you guessed correctly.

In attendance were:
Achim and his son Max
Marvin and his girlfriend Daniela
Jonas Schumacher and his girlfriend Thea
Dereck Cook
Jim & Joanne Signorelli

We had dinner together on Friday night. We talked about cars and mods in the parking lot until after 10:00 PM
On Saturday, most of the group attended a vintage (annual) American Car Show.

We have it good in America. Gas is sold by the gallon, and not the liter. A liter a gasoline in Germany is more than a gallon in America.
FYI: A gallon is 3.75 liters This week, at 1.83 Euros per liter, gasoline (regular) was selling for $ 7.62 per gallon.
We register our cars for around $ 30.00 per year. In Germany, it can cost 600 euros (660 dollars) or more.
We can modify our engines. This is banned in Germany.

I forgot to add that gas today was selling at $ 2.09 at the WaWa in Hackensack. That is $ 2.09 per gallon, not per liter!

Thanks for posting these, they came out great! Daniela and I were having a great time and would like to say a big thanks to everyone for making this work. I'm sorry she didn't say much, she understands English but isn't confident enough to speak it.

Our family friends Jonas and Thea, who live in Koln, came so that Daniela could speak with another woman. We wanted her to feel comfortable with strangers.
Car people are strange as it is, without a language barrier.

I'll resend the entire picture file to you in an email. The pictures are over 2 MB each and the web site can't handle that much data at once.

I love the "No Kangaroos in Austria" T-Shirt. I saw this sign in an Austrian Restaurant in Ashburn, VA a couple months ago and chuckled. I figured it was just because of geography challenged Americans confuse Austria with Australia all the time. Guess it must be a similar problem in Europe.

The kangaroos T-shirt was worn by Daniela. She is the girlfriend of Marvin, the club member who set this all up in Germany.

She brought that T-Shirt back from a vacation to Salzburg, Austria last month. As you said in English language Austria and Australia can be easily mixed up, however in German langauge which is also spoken in Austria they are totally different words, Österreich and Australien.

This is a rough idea about the T-shirt for our Koln event. What do you think?

Looks good! I have absolultely no idea how difficult and expensive it is to design and make these shirts but I just like to throw in some suggestions.

How about for the other side of the shirt we put a silhouette of a Marauder in front of the Köln cathedral which is the widely known sight of the city and perhaps include the flags of the United States and the European Union as well. Just an idea.

I'll see what I can do about the back of the shirt. Getting an image of the cathedral is easy. Superimposing a Marauder on it is the challenge.

The shirts would be black (as were the cars) and the lettering and MM.net logo image would be silver.

42131Having trouble getting The German, American, and EU flag on the back of shirt design
Here is what I can do for the back. How about we just add the first names of the attendees?

I'm looking forward to see what you come up with. One other thing though, shouldn't the MM.net logo technically read International Member for us? ;)

Just kidding, looks great as it is!

Shirts are ordered. They will be at my home by September 9th.
I'll get them mailed out ASAP.

Only one change. The logo and writing got lost on the black shirt, so I had to switch to a light blue T-shirt. The actual pictures of two black Marauders and the Cathedral stands out great! The names of all who attended also are easy to read.

I got confirmation today. The T-shirts for our Euro-Marauderville #1 were shipped by the supplier. I should have them by Wednesday (09/09/2015)

I'll need two to three days to get them boxed and shipped to my friends on the other side of the pond. My classes at the college began this week so I'm there all day Monday, Wednesday & Thursday.

I shipped the balance of the T-Shirts today to Germany & the U.K.
The USPS assures me that you'll have them by next weekend....

Please remember Joanne & I as you wear them.
