View Full Version : Buying a 2004 MARAUDER
BAD MERC

Not just any 2004, I am lucky enough to be buying back MY car that was sold 3 years ago. A guy in Georgia has it and has only done tires and battery and added about 5,000 miles. Nothing has been changed or removed and I am thrilled to be getting my BAD MERC back in the garage where she belongs. In a few weeks I will be flying one way to Columbus Ga and bringing my baby home. This has been a long time coming and it was hinging for the most part on my financial situation. Now I am motivated to supercharge it finally.

As an owner of a 2004 Silver Birch, I also feel your emotions toward your car. Congrats and many, many happy miles.
Now, if you should need driving directions to bring your baby to Carlisle next June, just feel free to ask. Consider Carlisle to be your reunion party.

I bought mine right after my dad passed in 2004. Tom Archambault had a silver one at my shop and it was love at first sight. I didn't know what a Marauder was but 11 months later I had a 2004 with 13K on the odometer and owned it six years. I know every nut and bolt on that car and it has sentimental meaning to me. I did a lot of the events in Florida but have never been out of state with it. When my schedule is definite I will try to meet with some Georgia owners for lunch before heading back to Fort Myers.

It sold on eBay and I was crushed!!! The transporter came and loaded it onto a 18-wheeler 9 car trailer then CLIMBED "Bo Duke Style" out of the rear window after stepping all over the leather because the door could not be opened. I watched it round the corner and disappear into the distance knowing that one day I would sacrifice something else to get her back. It was hastily sold to buy the house that I own. The market was low and I stole the house. It was a cash deal hence the regrettable sale.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TUdINf7wosI

Great story, love getting regret sold cars back.
I strongly suggest getting a new X4 tuner and tune from Mo's - it will be better than the old tune, and the tuners are far superior as well.
Next - boost it!
See 8UWITH6 for sale thread - he had a FULL Eaton swap put together.
Congrats,

That is a truly cool story. I was skeptical that he would wait or actually sell it. Congrats to you!

Nice! Glad you were able to get it back. I've considered trading mine in, and have often wondered how much seller's regret I'd have. Since it's paid off, and isn't worth that much with nearly 200,000 miles on it, I think I'm just going to drive it till it breaks.
Congratulations! That is fantastic, glad you are getting your baby back!

The time is here, my airline tickets are bought and money has changed hands. I will land in Columbus Ga on 1/9/16 and drive my 2004 Marauder back home where she belongs. I bought BAD MERC right after my dad died and it was my way to cope with monumental loss. My dad loved American Muscle and I'd give anything to give him just ONE ride. In 2012 an opportunity arose to buy the house I was renting CHEAP so I sold my car and emptied my savings and bought my 3/2/2 house for cash outright. I regretted it ever since. Fortunately the man that bought her was a collector and not a user. In four years she has gained 2700 miles on the clock for a total of 43,245 miles on a 12 year old vehicle. If anyone here lives in that area I'd love to have a quick meet and greet. It's been a long time since I've done anything Marauder related. I will be driving south and catching 75 somewhere in Georgia and staying in Orlando Saturday night. Life is good and I am looking forward to getting my baby back. Anyone along that route I have never met shoot me a PM.

That's sort of like the Marauder version of finding a needle in a haystack. Awesome to get it back pretty much like the way you left it
