It's the end of an era (in Detroit, at least).

It was a big day at the Rouge. Quite a few people got pictures. The second to last car is to be auction off to a worker at the plant. All the last Mustangs were painted white with the exception being the last one produced. As you have seen it was red and will be placed the Rouge visitor's center. Now comes the F-150 down the line in Dearborn at a new State-of-the-Art plant.

It's amazing how long the Mustang has been around, and that picture is just beautiful. After so long, it's sad that Rouge will no longer build any more Mustangs. Out of curiosity, where is Flat Rock, the home of the new Mustang?

Flat Rock is about halfway between Detroit and the Ohio boarder. It is about 20 miles southwest of Dearborn.

Remember the PR debacle when Ford tried to redesign the Mustang as a FWD car? The response was so overwhelmingly BAD, Ford abandoned the idea and renamed the project the "Probe".
Probes were built at Flat Rock.
Guess Ford finally got their way on where the Mustang will be built...

Maybe location wise, but thank goodness the Mustang has remained true to what it's supposed to be.

A lot of Mustang owners and clubs are boycotting the new Mustang because it is going to made in a Mazda plant. They will miss out on the what promises to be the best "Stang" ever made. I saw two on the road today. One was white and still had a lot of the manufactors testing equipment on it. The red one I saw looked like it came from a dealers showroom. Really nice car.

What people forget is that Ford owns 33% of Mazda. Which in this case makes them the largest owner of the Mazda brand. That is why when you go to the Ford website, Mazda is there with: Ford, Mercury, Lincoln, Land Rover, Jaguar, Aston Martin, Volvo.

I would certainly hope NOT! It's bad enough that some French car company called Renault ownes the controlling share of Nissan right now. Of course, Ford is also sorta guilty since they are currently co-developing a 2.7 litre turbo diesel motor with Peugot.
As far as those Mustang owners who really plan on boycotting the new Mustang, they need to realize that times are changing. The Mustang was not the highest quality car built in Ford's lineup, and this is going to help that dramatically being built with Mazda's. Also, this is going to be the greatest Mustang ever to date as said above. The Mustang has survived a LOT in it's long lifespan, and Ford could have pulled a GM and axed it. They could have perverted the Mustang, but didn't. This Mustang represents everything a Mustang has always represented, and I can't feel sorry for anyone who wants to boycott Ford's latest creation. This is a car that is literally the last of it's kind, and Ford chose to keep it going. Frankly, I feel the boycotters are just plain ignorant because they will miss out on Ford's latest work of art. Nearly all of the Land Rover's that have been shipped here to America have been built at the Solihull assembly plant. The upcoming Freelander will be built at the Jaguar Halewood plant, yet you don't hear about Freelander owners wanting to boycott their beloved SUV. Times are changing, and people need to get with the program. To even think of someone boycotting a car that is 100% Ford, and 100% Mustang, is just sick..........
