I wonder if our Marauders will be involved in the air bag inflator recall?
The wife's 2007 Charger was involved and daughters 2005 Mazda RX8 is involved. Since Mazda was part of Ford from 1979 to 2010 I'd assume that the same inflators were used across product lines.

So far I haven't heard of any Fords being recalled, but that's a good question, Jim.

No, this how it works

The problem is the METAL canister, that thing that is shaped like a hockey puck, was made out of inferior materials and is prone to corrosion. If it's corroded enough it will send shrapnel out when it "inflates".
As of now there are 8 deaths and 98 injuries attributed to the defective part.

And I recall seeing something about side air bags (like the ones in the Marauder) may be included.

Air bag inflater..... as in the air bag (supplemental restraint system) not the suspension air bag compressor. This topic could be confusing if not read carefully.

06 Mustang GT made the list. Got the letter about 2 months ago.

I believe everyone has heard of the air bag recallI was pointing out that the title of this thread was confusing and that the post by the original poster was regarding the supplemental restraint air bag and not the air bag suspension. They both have inflaters, one is compressor and one is explosive. My post had no other intent.

I had mine apart in the CV Sport to change the pad logo.
That thing looks like it would kill you from shrapnel anyway!

Nothing quite like having a few small bombs built into your car.

Takata made the air bag module that's used in the Panthers, so there's a good chance that they use inflators made by Takata as well. There's only 2 or 3 MAJOR automotive air bag manufacturers in the world, and from what I've read about the recall Takata had at least 50% market share, probably more.
