For my 2004, 28 spline rear axles, what is the length? I searched through a few dozen threads for an hour, but I did not find the spec.

34.300 in?

34.375 in?

Dan is wrong, trust me, with your build you want/need 31 Splines

Shame on me, I made an error. It was Chris at ADTR who sold me the Detroit Tru Track Limited Slip Differential (http://adtr.net/product/ford-crown-victoria/detroit-true-trac-limited-slip-differentials/) to use 28 spline.

Nonetheless, advice heard.

You will need 31 spline carrier too

Those are the ones! Just exchange your Trutrac for a 31 Spline version, and you will be good to go!

Chris at ADTR was nice enough to take back the unused 28 spline Detroit differential and exchange for a 31 spline.

For a permanent fix to the c-clip axle problem consider the Dutchman Axles conversion to a proper pressed-on tapered roller bearing. PM sent.
