Belt slip?????

Ok I have seen a few people talk about belt slippage, so what exactly does the car does when the belt slips? Cause i have a trilogy & right now when i nail it & it goes to shift gears it stutters & hesitate before going into the next gear & idk if it needs to be retuned, belt slippage, pulley? Idk its irking me like crazy. If anyone has experienced this please let me know just in the process of trying to get it together. Thanks god bless
