Got my Cold Air Induction kit yesterday and it was a snap to install!!!

No hard numbers to compare but it feels like it made a great improvement over the stock box!! Much smoother power on acceleration!!

One thing though is the induction noise......Sounds like a 4 barrel with the air cleaner off.....Kind of nice but loud at 3/4 throttle!! :nono: I'm gonna re-install my "J" tube today and see if it tones it down any.....Stay tuned!!

PS: Thanks to all at Paul's High Performance!!!!

Thanks for the report, Jack. I'm looking for more actual reports on this, and eventually the K&N system.

I have to disagree with you on this MarauderJack. This kit is just a larger filter with a stainless heat shield. I installed mine today. It did not come with any instructions as promised on the web site. 3 out of 4 screws had to be forced in as the prepositioned nuts behind them were misalligned (stripping). The front of the box is wide open (good or bad?) so the small rubber tube behind the headlight is not needed as it has nothing to connect to. Is there more HP? I intend to find out when I get a superchip custom tune done on Monday and see the base dyno print out compared to my last one. The kit does make the car louder. Would I recommend this kit to a friend? I do not think so. I was looking for a little more quality for the price. I will be interested to see what K&N comes up with.

And yes Todd, I am very interested as to what you are having designed. If it is as good as those control arms you will be on a roll.

TODD!!!! Stop keeping secrets! Some of us are about to buy (or have bought) some products not knowing that competitive products might be just around the corner. At least let us know what might be on the horizon so we can decide whether to buy now or wait a little longer to see what else comes around. I'm going to have to send Marauderchick over to interrogate you! :nono:

Just remember...I'm not selling anything. And, I'm not saying other offerings are bad....but I am working on some things, no secret there....which could be made available here, by others...that's not my call.

And bring on Kathy...I'm not scared of her...:depress:

Put the "J" tube thingy back on and cut the induction noise in half!!!

Mine came with good photo instructions and fit perfectly!! The only thing I had to move was the little white box attached to the metal brace in front of the conical filter. Also, the paper gasket for the MAF was too thin and did not seal up so I used the round one from the stock box!! I called Carl at Paul's and told him so I expect they will send foam gaskets in the future??

Like I said....It seems much smoother while accelerating without the surging I had before???

I'll be interested in some hard numbers from some of the other guys!! ;)

Well, since the cold air kit isn't a necessity for me right now, I think I will wait until we have Paul's, K&N, and whatever Todd comes up with so that I can make an informed choice of all three.

And when it comes to Kathy...Be scared...be very scared!

I was told the other day that is for the air suspension pump...can be moved...just needs to be "up".

It's a good bet she already knows. The big question is what is SHE hiding behind the curtain?

Being from a somewhat informed point of view, I would definitely wait to see what K&N has been working on, as well as other goodies just over the horizon.

Todd, please don't keep secrets! Your fellow Marauder owners have a need to know of stuff like this! Increasing intake sound is one of my priorities, and I think that i'll wait till Todd's setup along with the K&N is made available before I can make my choice. I don't know about Jack and others, but I LOVE intake noise, especially when going WOT!

Out of curiosity, what kind of filter is used with the Paul's setup? S&B Powerstack conical filter? K&N? I've had huge quality issues with K&N's in some previous uses, so i'm a bit biased against them...........

EXACTLY my point!

What quality issues have you had with K&N filters? Just wondering since I just put a Fram K&N-style air filter in my Marauder--I DON'T mean to hijack this thread and turn it into a K&N vs. standard filter war! I'm NOT a big K&N believer myself, I just was amazed they had the K&N-style Fram filter that fit my Marauder in stock at Pep Boys, and bought it on a whim! I plan to dump my new Fram "AirHog" oiled-filter anyway as SOON as I decide on a new air induction system . . .

Hey june....

The filter used by Paul's is a K&N look alike.....It also has a fine mesh dust/moisture barrier!!! I think it is supplied by Outlander or something like that.....call them and see!!

The induction noise without the "J" thing is wat LOUD....Drowns out the exhaust completely!!! With the "J" thing it is about as loud as the exhaust and about the same tone!!! :D Like having pipes at both ends!!! :bows:

I like the setup and the installation on mine was a snap....after I fabricated a MAF sensor gasket!! :o

I actually had 3 issues with K&N filters. Back when I had my 97 Taurus, I decided to try a K&N panel filter for it. I went to Autozone and ordered one. When it arrived, it was literally dripping oil which is a huge no-no when installing it into a vehicle with an MAFS. After getting the excess oil off, I went ahead and installed it in my car, and left it there for probably 5000 miles. After 5000 miles, I checked the filter to find out that the wire mesh like thing has come loose from the base where it goes into the rubber that seals it against the edges of the airbox. I returned it and got another one, which after 5000 miles started cracking at the rubber moulding, to a point where the metal bar inside the rubber that acts as a brace had popped out. At this point, I gave up and decided not to use K&N again until I decided to try their conical filter when I switched that Taurus to a conical setup. I never got around to installing the K&N filter because the base rubber downstream of the filtering medium had looked like it was coming loose from the filtering medium itself. After returning it, I went ahead and used an S&B powerstack filter and havn't ever tried K&N since then. Lots of people have had good luck with their products, and their oil filters(made by Champion Lab's) is top knotch, but my experience will mean I can never recommend their air filtration products. I think I also read somewhere that K&N air filters do not filter out dirt very well...............
