    air spring install?

I just received my new airsprings from Suncore, while reading over the installation instructions it mentions folding/refolding the airsprings. I have never worked on airsprings before, what does this mean? Does it simply mean compressing the piston inside of the springs? Or am I looking at this too simply? I can see by looking at the originals still in the car that they fold over and down over the piston, but then again mine are leaking so I do not know if this is right or not. Any advice would be helpfull since I plan on doing this tomorrow during the day, and have already been without my car for 2 days. I like my wife's G35, but it's not the same as my Merc.

You have to fold the rubber bag such that the plastic piston wants to become an "inny" instead of an "outie". My FSM gives a spec for the fold height, before you seal the bag off by reinstalling the solenoid. You have to do the fold w/ the solenoid popped so air can get in to allow the fold.

Tis bag design is called a 'rolling lobe'. The mounting plat is supposed to be an 'inny' and the bag rolls around it. It is designed this way to increase travel distance.

Place the spring on a flat surface

Remove the Solenoid so the bag is no longer compressed

Fold the bag like everyones mentioned.

    Replace the solenoid.

    Install in the car!

Thanks for the info, got them done on Sat w/no problem. Not all that easy but not the hardest thing I've done. Hardest part was accessing the misc clips that hold it in place. Plus it took awhile for the airbags to fill which kind of freaked me out, just had to wait and they filled right up. No more one sided lean when I come out after 2 hours . Took about 2 hours to do everthing, need to get new rubber isolators for the compresser though. Loud as crap when it does come though. Nothing some well placed vibration dampers (rubber feet) won't help.

    Question Air suspension question

New to the Forum. I have a 2004 DTR Marauder. Bought it used with approx. 30,600 miles. Have had it almost 2 years now. Great car. As best as I can tell from reading posts on this site, it has just about everything on it. Planning on putting a chip and CAI on it and leaving the rest of it stock. It really runs great. Gets consistent 24/25 mpg on highway.

Just had a problem with the air suspension come up. The compressor has been sounding noisy for a while. Well, today it quit and the air susp light came on. The rear has bottomed out. Is this a dealer problem or is there a compressor assembly available out there somewhere that I can buy? Going to park it until I get it fixed.

I used www.americanairsuspension.com on my town car. it was easy. lifetime warranty on bags, 2 yrs on compressors I think. I learned to replace the drier every few years. the dealer had no idea.

Arnott is good too, trying to convince corprate to add them as a supplier as customers come in the store every week looking for this stuff.
