Noticed while taking The Blackbird for a ride to warm it up for an oil change that the power mirrors were mostly inop. The passenger side would go down and in but not up or out. Driver's side was equally funky.
Remembering takedown's window switch repair thread, I wanted to see if the mirror switch was similar. Fortunately it is, for the most part. I was able to disassemble the switch and spray the innards with zero-residue electrical contact cleaner. Upon reassembly and installation, walla!...both mirrors function in all directions now.
Sorry I didn't get pix, but Bunny is at the City Year Boston conference and her camera is too complicated for me. It's really pretty self-explanatory once you get the switch apart.
There's the top half with the pivot, a removable plate in the middle with all the contacts, and the bottom half with the socket for the wiring harness connector. You don't have to remove the middle plate from the top half, just spray everything down and snap the bottom half of the switch back together. If the contact plate does fall out, don't panic...it's shaped so it will only go back in one way.
