Thread: All lowered marauders in here

Exclamation All lowered marauders in here

Tomorrow (well, today actually) I'm having a new set of nittos put on the front of my car, next up I want to lower it.... My car for whatever reason already sits lower then an average MM, compared to my friends 03 300A my car sits a full half inch lower. But I have seen two MM's with a 1.5" drop (one with eaton springs, one with eibachs) and I love how it looks....

So, I'm torn between doing a 1" or 1.5" drop. I don't think the 1" looks low enough for me, however I'm afraid of scraping like a snow plow with 1.5".

Anyways, if you have a lowered marauder post some pictures up and post your setup. I'd love a picture of the front showing the wheel and fender so I can see the gap in between them and how low the front bumper is.

    Thanks

Edit: I think this might be what I'm going for.... I just hope it doesn't make the stock 18's look to small in person

One coil cut. Keep in mind every MM will sit differently doing this depending on mileage. Mines at 85,000 and was cut at probably 45,000.

If you cut the front coil, make sure you take a before and after measurement of the ride height also cut the same amount of coil on both coils.

I'm gonna buy a set of eaton lowering springs, to be honest I don't trust the cut coil method. I'd rather spend 160 on a set of springs.

The Marauder factory front coils are the police interceptor coils, they have a pretty high spring rate. Some have bought the Eibach, (don't know about the Eaton ones) and will say it has a stiffer ride. The spring rate on the PI coils even with 3/4 to one coil cut should still have a fairly high spring rate compared to aftermarket ones. As long as you are not cutting the coil with heat and using a metal cutting wheel of some sort the coil will be fine. Dozens of members have cut their coils and been riding around for sometime like that with no problems.

Its not the spring rate thats the problem... when you cut the coil, instead of it resting on a full ring, it justs rests on a point now. I'd like to sound more technical in my jargon but I'm to tired right now. Point being, it just seems like a bad idea to have the whole front resting on one little point of the coil.

If you cut one full coil, how does it sit any differently in the mount since your starting point (the end of the coil) is still in the exact same place, you are now just one coil shorter??

No, it doesn't. Ask me how I know. (check the sig.)
