    Door Window Switch Lighting

I read the sticky above and was impressed despite all of the images are missing. Lighting went out on one switch in driver’s door recently, switch works fine otherwise. Too much work to remove and replace the LEDs for me as I priced a new switch through Switch Doctor for $20. I’ll wait for a major malfunction in the switch.

A couple of youtube vids depicting removing and reinstalling the switch were interesting. In one, the guy stated to remove the cover from the front so as to not break the rear tab, although his rear tab had already broken off. In another vid, the guy just picked it off with one hand and tossed it to the side, casually mentioning the rear tab issue as his was already broken off too.

One of my rear interior lights are out; searching around for info on how to replace the bulb.

The switch lighting always on when the car was on was a downfall instead of only on when the parking lamps or headlamps are on.

It is really easy to remove/replace especially if you know to pull on the front part (where the mirror control is) first then slide forward to avoid breaking the tab on the rear part of it.

Is the rear map light out or does it need to be moved? I often had to just lean back and push it flat cause over time from super firm shifts and exhaust drone.

The rear map light bulb is a 42 mm festoon bulb.

Regarding switch backlighting - LEDs are supposed to last forever - I thought LOL!

    Rear map lights:

I must admit that I haven’t checked it manually, only that when a door opens only one lamp comes on. According to a youtube vid, the entire rear map light assembly has to come out to change the bulbs - looks easy enough.

The door switch lights are tiny bulbs. Not led from the factory

Usually its the solder points have loosened up enough to break connection or the contact points have a heavy amount of carbon build up and just need to be cleaned.

Picture below is another member's master window switch I took apart and cleaned up since their lights were not fully working.

Negative on that, you do not need to remove the whole assembly to replace the bulbs, the front you do but not the rear. Check the one that is out with pushing the side closer to the center of the car up/in to it kinda clicks into place. You can take a small pick tool and there is a very small hole on one side the of lens that you can stick to the pick took in and gentle pry the cover off, super easy.

Incorrect. They are LEDs. I've fixed enough to know.

Thanks for the heads up. Repaired today; bulb is okay. Contacts for swivel housing needed cleaning and the electrical contact tabs slightly bent out to increase tension.

Both my seat heater switches are burned out (were replaced three times each under warranty), my driver door lock switch is out, and my headlight illumination is out. All this in 50K miles. I'm going to attempt an alternate form of illumination on these items in lieu of replacing the entire switch on each one.

Thinking your car doesn't like you and/or had issues with its previous owners.

Other side of rear seat overhead lamp assembly went out - I'll check it shortly. Driver's window switch started illuminating on one side - I'll take what I can get! Passenger seat heater controls illuminate at night - not so on the driver's side although it does heat up properly.

Installed a K&N CAI and drilled additional holes into the pan under the air suspension pump - can't hear it anymore! Car rides and parks level so it must be working...
