Hello, my name is Dan I am a 35 yr old plumber from North Eastern, Mass. and I'm happy to say I am the new owner of a 03A Marauder. I have always been a fan of unique domestic sleeper-types. First real car I bought was a 5 Spd Thunderbird Supercoupe, followed by a 5 Spd 98 Contour SVT. I was a member in forums for both cars and was glad to find you guys here. Both cars were fun to drive and the time came for me to buy a work van, so I have been driving that for 5 yrs. Wanted a Marauder for a long time, and happened to find one on Craigslist in the next city over w/ only 77,800 miles. I think I got a great deal on the car. The previous owner had it for 3 years, he ended up getting sick and passing away so the car was sold to me by his family. They were asking 9800. I went to look at it prepared with a KBB Value printed out of 6,800.00. Knowing these cars are sold with a premium since they are getting hard to find, I offered 7,500. They said 8K, and I agreed. The car needs some paint, it had plenty of scratches and paint chips on the hood, but it has never been in a major accident according to the carfax I ran. It runs strong, engine sounds good to my untrained ear, and shifts smooth. My only problem is a slight stutter when applying light acceleration. Under medium/heavy acceleration there is no problem. BADMERC has already advised me in the facebook marauder owners group. (Thanks!) He mentioned the spark plugs as a good starting point. So I will be tackling that soon enough. Looking forward to becoming part of the group here, have patience with my ridiculous questions as I am not a huge car guy.
And likewise, if anyone needs plumbing advice/recommendations, let me know!
Commence Marauding!
