Sheepskin mitt quality question/suggestions

Hello all

I have a quick question about the latest recommended sheepskin wash mitts

It's that time of year again to wash my mint black paint for the show and shine car shows and sunny day cruises

My last mitt has been showing signs of wear and is time to get a new one.

Simoniz has a genuine sheepskin mitt at the local speedshop that I will likely buy although I want to make sure I am making the right decision.

Simoniz also makes lesser "synthetic" wool mitts which I know to stay away from as I'm sure those synthetic fires won't be good for my cut polished wetsanded clay barred (no orange peel) black paint.

What are your thoughts on the Simoniz genuine sheepskin mitt quality? Is there other comparable mitts or better ones out there?

if you only drive it on sunny days, why are you washing it all the time? i have not washed mine in nearly 3 years. Detail spray, duster, polish , stored inside.

Actually I am going to be taking it to an insurance inspection for a potential claim

if the claim is minor, it's generally better to pay out of pocket, due to deductible and then rates subsequently raising. If major, then understandable. even my insurance man suggests to me to pay out of pocket if less than $1000 before deductible. two claims lead to high risk rating and sometimes a carrier dropping you. I don't like washing andcdrying my cars.

I switched to 100% cotton. Try Griots.

I switched to CarPro Boa towels, one bucket.
One towel per panel. Wash a panel, go for a new towel.
Also using ONR most of the time instead of soap and water.
I pre-wet each panel with ONR and water in a spray bottle, wash the panel, blot dry with a waffle weave towel and move on to the next panel.

ONR = Optimum No Rinse. Good stuff

Follow with Optimum Opti Seal and you got a shine!

If a black car is actually dirty, I.E. It has been driven... Power wash with quality soap and wool mitt is the only way to go. Hood, trunk, roof, upper sides, top of bumpers, mid sides, face of bumpers, lower sides, lower bumpers. Yes, extra work, especially drying all the jams...

There is no way wiping dirt across paint makes it cleaner. Even if you could suspend 98% of the dirt particles with a sprayon solution (and I don't think you can) you are still wiping 2% of the particles into the paint.

I do use the cleaner/detailer sprays on clean cars after dusting them from storage, and they are awesome! But if a black car is dirty... Back to top of post.
