    New "Marauder"

As it happens mine is a 95' Lincoln LSC but for all intensive purposes it's a 2 door Mercury Marauder. Same engine (albeit 290 vs 302 hp), same transmission, 3.27 gearing vs 3.55 gearing. Once upon a time it had a fancy (and trouble-prone) air-ride suspension but that's gone, it's now got the same coil spring suspension you guys have. Oh, and log axle vs IRS.

Please accept this poor refugee from Ford/Lincoln who has a 22 year old car that occasionally breaks (*)

(*) Not one week after buying this stupid thing I was scavenging for a glove box latch. I found one, I replaced it, it was annoying. If there had been only one interior color *cough* Marauder that would have been way easier. As it was I had to find a matching trim color or suffer with a glove box latch that in no way matched the glove box itself, so lots of scavenging was involved (there were 5+ interior colors, I found latches for 3 of them). Fortunately this component was shared across several Lincolns so even though none of the 3 Mark 8's I looked at shared the same interior, I found a matching component in a Town Car and used that one.

Still...I cannot hate on this car at all. $1100 for a 290hp IRS car with a good transmission and low miles? I could have easily paid more for a flipping Toyota Corolla with half the performance and double the miles.

Marauders have rear air suspension, not poverty coils, and a solid axle, no irs.

My condolences then, those things always fail you at one point or another. The one in the Lincoln is particularly troublesome (4 wheel vs rears only) so I'm happy it got deleted. I'm on the fence as to whether IRS helps or hurts the car, that's just what it has. Theoretically it helps handling, practically it makes swapping from an open diff to a posi unit more difficult since you now need a Cobra 'donor'.

Nice supercharger by the way. I bet that thing moves

I had problems with the Mk 7 air bags getting cracks from dry rot, leaking down and requiring replacement. So far no problem with the MM, with over 280k miles. Big difference is the Mk was parked outside, the MM has been garaged.

I'm not policing, just letting a member know that the vehicle mentioned in the initial post was not a marauder. The op said it was a poor mans marauder..We post about different members cars all the time here.
