No such thing. Never be afraid to ask. We all have to learn sometime. Personally, I am always glad when someone asks for advice on properly taking care of their car.

No need for all that stat swapping.
When you burp the system you can speed up the process by squeezing the lower/upper radiator hose and hose to over flow bottle. Done with funnel (sealed) in crossover tube opening, engine running and heater on high. Car can be on incline or not. Squeeze till no more bubbles or or greatly diminished.
Once engine cools to ambient temp check at crossover and add coolant as necessary.
    Works for me every time.

This may help with the burping procedure as well:

    ^This^

I don’t even run the engine anymore. Spend ten minutes or so squeezing every coolant hose you can find until it’s done blowing bubbles or slowed down to the point of no change. Install plug and good to go. Never once an issue.

Another thing that came to mind. He said a upper manifold gasket was damaged when installing the cams. He bought a new one and installed it. Any chance it could have been damaged when he installed it that would cause it to run hot? I’m going to burp it tomorrow that I’m off but that came to mind right now and thought to mention it.
