    Lean code Bank 1

    Got in my car after a whial of not driving er and was running like ****.. check engine light came on and I plugged it into my obdll and code popped P0171 BANK 1 LEAN.?? HELP PLZ THANKYOU!!! KINDA TRIPPING... im married to my car...

    Some info to get you started:

    "Basically this means that an oxygen sensor in bank 1 has detected a lean condition (too much oxygen in the exhaust). On V6/V8/V10 engines, Bank 1 is the side of the engine that has cylinder #1. The P0171 is one of the more common trouble codes."

    could be dirty maf, vacuum leak, bad 02 sensor ,clogged injector, bank 1 is the side of motor with cylinder 1

    Since a lot of people get confused by this, let me add that Bank 1 is the passenger side on these motors, unlike many Bow-Tie products.

    Not sure why this was in the Transmission forum...moving to Shop Talk and editing title for more clarity.

    It's already been moved to right section, he is a moderator and has the ability to move it. we gave you ideas as it is never just a cut and dry answer with codes. have you done any of them?
