Mike and Constables MMs were 4300+ lb at E-town IIRC. One of them had an empty tank, the other had a full tank, LOL.

Gasoline doesn't weigh 10 pounds per gallon. It's much lighter than water. The Handbook of Chemistry & Physics lists the density of gasoline at 41.0 - 43.0 pounds per cubic foot. That translates to 5.48 - 5.75 pounds per gallon. So, at 5.75 pounds per gallon. (19 * 5.75 = 109.25 pounds).Originally Posted by Architect

Did we establish for certain that weight was with driver?
How much was the driver weight?
Doesn't most of the literature have the curb weight as 4400lbs?
Is there an established baseline for how much a MM weighs, without driver, and without mods of great weight? (Like w/o huge sound system, dynamat, etc)
Curb weight in stock trim is 4,164 pounds from the lit that I have seen.Originally Posted by Marauder.45
Using the "Architect's" estimate of 4069.5 pounds and adding back his overestimate of gas weight puts him at 4069.5 + 81.25 = 4150.75 pounds. Assuming the scale is 10# under accurate (per the owner) means that he only has about 24 pounds of miscellaneous "stuff" in the trunk not the 30 that he estimated. Close enough yet???

4300+ lb race ready (with driver in the seat).
98-02 Panthers are about 4150 lb race ready (with driver in the seat), according to the scales at E-town.
Just what I thought...
4165lbs + me = 4400lbs
OK here's how I reached my numbers...
From Published charts....Not that means anything
Gasoline weighs 75 lbs. per cubic foot
1 Cubic foot equals 7.480 U.S. "liquid" (Not Dry @ 6.428) Gallons
19 Gallon tank equals 2.54 Cubic feet (19 divided by 7.480)
2.54 Cubic Feet times 75 lbs. equals 190.50 lbs (weight of full tank)

You have a bogus chart or something. Water weighs 62.4 pounds per cubic foot. Gasoline is much lighter than water.Originally Posted by Architect

I've found two more spots that list weight of gasoline at 6.25 lbs per gallon depending on temperatute...approx. 72 degrees....
Quess I'll write the publisher of my "weights and measures" booklet and point out the mistake...1 cubic foot of gasoline can't weigh 75 lbs.
Thanks to all you "Mr. Wizards" out there...

anybody have any idea how much the motor and tranny combo weighs?
Hi Guys
On the scales at my shop my Marauder with me (230lbs) in it and three quarters of a tank of gas weighed 4796lbs

I believe I remember reading a Ford Performance article that said the Mach 1 motor weighed about 615 pounds and the transmission weighs about 140 pounds. I will try to find the article, it was a while back.

I looked around and the 4r70w transmission is 150lbs and the complete 4.6 dohc engine is near 550 +/-. Look here:https://www.mercurymarauder.net/foru...ad.php?t=57402

MM traded in 8/9/13 @ 128909 miles. It was fun for almost 8 years. I met airmercpun on 1/17/14. He was the new owner of my former ride. -Now gone.
Update: back in the game with a late build 03 GMGS with some MM add ons like Escape audiophile radio w/Sirius sat radio, rear sway bar, catback exhaust, and header panel.

IMHO, this site- the members that I chat with- and the ones that I now Hang with- are like my 2nd family. There is such an ongoing welcome feeling here that even members who don't or no longer own the MM can feel.
Get the scale recalibrated, no way that adds up .
I was just shy of 4500# on the scale with my giant ass in the best seat.
I can't remember if I took out the driver side headlight

Seems high. When was the last time those shop scales were calibrated ??
Curb weight of the 2003 Mercury Marauder was listed as 4,164 pounds in the dealer brochure. The 2004 MM was 4,199 pounds. The difference likely being primarily the transmission upgrade.
Curb weight is defined as the vehicle without passengers or cargo. It includes all operating fluids including a full tank of gas. Unless you are toting around 367 pounds of junk in the trunk, there is no way it could get near 4,796 pounds. Something is off by quite a bit. Check your conversion from kilograms.
