Is it possible to change the idler pulley to a larger diameter to make up the difference?

I suppose I could with the right center diameter and offset. With the 1073, the tensioner is slam to the right. I have to literally shoe-horn the belt on. It's harder for me to experiment with length, cuz the blower has to come off to change belts!!! Big-'ol-PITA!!!

I would think that with almost 3" of swing, it would be OK, but tension is less the closer you get to the left.

I meant to ask Zack what he thought or if he'd seen a difference with .5-.7" differing length belt or maybe I could just call Dennis and ask him.

Either way, it'll be a few miles before I have to address it again (I hope).

    FWIW.....

I have the Dayco belt on my ProCharger and so far it is doing great.....no slipping and the tensioner ain't jumping all over the place like it did with the GatorBack!! My original Gates belt slipped a bunch and the tensioner showed signs of the belt stretching!!

It was a ROYAL PITA to get on though.....much thicker than the GatorBack!!
    No Marauder

I shredded 2 gatorbacks with the procharger. Good info on the dayco. Easy to get at Advance, too. Thanx!

O.K., Napa reports that the belt that they sell is the exact same belt as the Gates Fleet Runner, Heavy Duty & green colored. It was almost twice the cost of the rockauto price.

This is awesome info.....thanks guys. I'm starting to hear belt squeal. If I change out the belt and tensioner, will that alleviate the squeal?

I don't know, but it is a good place to start. It might solve your issue depending if it is the tensioner squealing but it could be another accessory such as the alternator.

This would be interesting to find out since others might have the same setup as yours. I can see why you want a long lasting belt!

Rich, if you were to get a K081074HD and remove two ribs, would this be the correct width? The length is listed as 108", only 1/8" difference from what you are using now.
