    Question 20" MARAUDER REPROs

Ive been shooping around the idea of a 20" Marauder wheel to several wheel manufactuers, and some have been very open to the possibility!

So at this point the question becomes what the mebership is feeling on this

As always i am looking to get an actual head count of members who are serious about making this a reality!

The wheels will be 20x9, or 20x10 depending on what is wanted, also a possibility is there to do forged or cast, but i can tell you right now a forged wheel will be very exspensive!

I have included a poll with options, so let me know what yall think. Also the wheels will be chrome.

The only problem I always have is it would be hard to leave the forged 18s and move to a cast 20 :-/. My car used to have forged 19" Budnik wheels, and two of them bent. Makes me very afraid of a cast 20" on this car. Just my thoughts on the issue.

Thats a very valid point, but i bent one of the factory wheels parking to close to the curb so this can happen with any wheel be it forged, or cast.

oops, but I guess that's my fear, you can jack any wheel and it seems that much easier to damage cast wheels. That said though, what kind of price ranges are we talking for forged? I'd like to vote, but something tells me it would be more than my pocket could chew

You would be correct! the Manufacturing process for a forged wheel is going to be around the 3-4k (a set) range, more than i would be willing to spend, but as one wheel company pointed out any forged wheel worth its weight is going to go at that price point.

That's what I figured, the Budniks were $800 each, and that was 8 years ago

Roger, don't want to hijack, I would certainly entertain forged 20s. I am a big fan of our wheels and would love to go bigger.

But since I kicked the cat..

I had Boyd's build me a set for my beloved Mark VIII. He tried 3 times, $4200. Never could get it right.
I ended up selling the car with a cheap set of tire rack rims because I couldn't bear to see it setting on jack stands any longer (18 months).
I got to drive it like 8 miles back and forth to the tire place mounting and dismounting rims.

Best of luck to you since I would love to see this happen.

I had the same idea that I posted here last year but unfortunately all the manufacturers I contacted wanted a solid 1000 wheels sold before doing any work.

I had a set of one offs on my 67 Caprice wagon by Boyd. I contacted several people asking the same question to no avail. I would be in for a set if I still had my previous job.

I would guess that you would almost need a forged wheel on these pigs. Even more so with a larger wheel with less rubber.

    Subscribing....

I've never had any issues with a cast rim cracking bending...my homeboy has 22" cast rims on his 96 Impala for about 7 years now, I've had em on my Caprice, and my other friend has 24" forged Asantis on his donk....as long as they're a quality rim you'll be good...and with that said cast would be fine for me!
