    Hello to All from AZ

    Hello,

I'm a new member from the Phoenix/Sun City area. I am currently modifying my 2005 Lincoln Town Car.

I have the majority of the suspension completed with the help of Chris at adtr.net. Ride-Tech coil-overs in front, new Eibach sourced sway bars front and rear, METCO trailing arms, and Fox built Ride-Tech shocks out back. I kept the air bags because when I got the car, they were shot, and I had the dealer replace the solenoids, the bags, and the complete LCA assemblies.

The difference in ride from stock is minimal, (I was truly surprised), but the "air bag wallow" is gone and the car handles really well.

The 8.8 has been upgraded with a new 3.55 ring and pinion, a new Tru-Trak, Moser 31 spline axles, a girdle/cover, and the tubes were welded where they enter the pumpkin.

I went to 18 inch wheels and tires, and had the windows tinted. The AZ sun does not forgive ever.

The car is a one owner, (when I got it), zero accidents, zero leaks, no rust, and everything works. It's not a daily driver, it's my sleeper. Pump gas here is 91 octane at best.

The bad news is the transmission finally gave up, so I'm looking at options. The car has 241K on it as of this writing, and I'm seriously thinking of re-doing the complete drivetrain. I'm not committed yet to anything, and that's another reason I joined this board. Given the physical size of the Ford mod motor, packaging is a big concern, i.e. will it fit?

I bought the SCT X4 tuner, but before I could really do anything, the tranny went south. The speedometer thinks it's ten over where it really is etc.

Thank you to all in advance that voice an opinion. I am following all the build threads I can.

    Cheers,

    Frank

I always liked that Town Car series. There other people on this forum with hot rod Town Cars, including at least one supercharged. But I have to say this, cars that are intended to be sleepers do not normally get big mag wheels. 18-inch steelies maybe. The mags are kind of a giveaway.

LOL! Yes, you're right, but with a balding gray haired old guy driving, I might just get away with it.

I'm thinking about moving the battery to the trunk, and the "Power Bulge" hood too, simply to have a bit more room in the engine bay. I'd prefer the turbo to the S/C, but will probably stay NA.....maybe the Coyote if the electronic kinks ever get ironed out.

I've pondered this solution also, but I have the LTC pretty much where I want it except for the "giddyup" bits.

Or maybe just buy a Marauder and keep the LTC. I like that solution even better.

Yes! This is the first I've heard of a local group. Thank you, I'm in. When is the next gathering?

I have many questions. Like what about the 3.5 Ecoboost/6R80 swap?

Smaller package physically and there's a thread somewhere I found about this swap into an older Ford pickup. The wiring stuff/problems has been solved I think, and turbos are very nice. Just thinking out loud.

The NA LSX motor is an option also. Smaller physically than the mod motor too. I have a set of clean, stock, LS7 castings sitting in my garage. To use them, I need a 4.125 bore though.......427/454 LSX!! Torque!

    Cheers,

    Frank

Any swap is possible, depends on how much you want to spend. none of your proposed swaps are weekend jobs really. lots of planning beforehand.
