    Unusual noise

Went on a trip with the marauder the other night , drove it kinda hard but nothing crazy . Woke up the next morning to this noise in the top end.
Engine will be sitting there idling, no issues , then will develop a tick , and it gets faster and louder for about 25 seconds , then suddenly goes away . Then after about 2 or 3 minutes, it will do it again.
Drove the car home that afternoon, over 100 miles , with no issues , drove it the next day no issues , today , it’s doing it again
Sounds distinctly like it’s in the valve train , specificly on the drivers side
Oil pressure is good , oil is clean , car has 38000 miles , always had Mobil 1 since new , and I don’t think it’s ever gone over 1500 miles between oil changes
Chain tensioner comes to mind , but it seems to intermittent to be that or the guides
I will try and upload a video.
It sounds similar to a car with a cam phaser issue the way it comes and goes , but obviously that’s not the case here
Just curious if anyone has seen anything like this
I’m going away tomorrow to the FE drag eases in Pennsylvania , I’m gonna pull the motor apart when I get back , just hoping someone has seen this and maybe knows the remedy

Try a stethoscope or screw driver method. Cylinder.8 has cooling issue over time generally. And can mess up a valve from overheating.

the noise is predominantly in the front, sounds like the chain is slapping the inside of the cover , and all the valves are clattering.
I am thinking the tensioner might be going , but I’ve never seen A tensioner issue come and go like this
I tried to put a video up , but I can’t seem to get it to load

Timing chains and guides are common maintenance item anywhere from 80k miles and up..sound like a sewing machine?

That’s the thing , the car doesn’t ever have 40 k on it ! I can’t I’m angine them going already. It is still 16 years old , but it seems too early
But it comes in as like 1or 2 lifters then gets more and more , until all of a sudden it stops and runs mint
Anyone know if there is something special I have to do to upload a video to to post ?

Oil Additives? A low mileage motor can fail, but one would think it would happen before now. Probably shouldn't drive it again until Marauder is properly diagnosed. Have it towed....
