    Nitto NT 555's???

I am going to order Nitto NT 555 tires and wonder what the rev/mile differential should be to keep the TC and ABS happy??

Mac runs 245/45's up front and 255/45's out back and rev/mi difference is 13....with 255/45's out back and 235/40's up front the rev/mi difference is 51!!

What are the upper and lower limits of the difference before the computer goes wackey??

    Thanks,

This is what I would do if I had stock rims for the back. Since I have widened rims, I use the 255/45's on the front and will be switching between 295/45's and 305/45's on the rear.

    FordNut....

Will a differential of only 13 rev/mile be enough?? The stock tires have a differential of 35 rev/mile???

    Thanks,

Yes. That's what the KDW2 users are doing. And I believe that's what Glenn used when he went with the Nittos too.

I did not notice a change when I went with the wide rims and Nitto DR. If it ever stops raining here, I'll get my speed checked with radar and let you know.

I can't say for sure since you have an '04 (traction control) but I believe it will be ok. I do know that the ABS light will come on at extended high speed use with all 4 tires the same size, but with slightly larger rears it should be ok. Hopefully somebody with t/c that has tried different sizes will chime in.

I have an 04. I usually drive with T/C off. I have not see a problem with it on....

I have a trip to NY coming up, I cruise for awhile with the T/C on to see.

The best way to figure out alternate choices with tires is with the link below. Just put your front and rear tires size and check that they met a 5% or higher % difference. Also, i think the computer could accept between about 3 to 5% since it would mimic taking into account the tread usage (of the rears) after a given time. I personnally don't respect the 5% and keep the TC switch at off with no boring side effects.

    Good luck

I can't speak for DEFYANT but I am running the Nittos with 255/45s on the front and 295/45s on the back. That seemed to be the most common combination (when wide tires were chosen) that I saw at the MVIII in Detroit.

I have not noticed any problem with them.. tho I only have about 400 miles on them since installation.

Just so you know, be advised that the Nitto NT555, and the NT555R are two different types of tires, and it's only the NT555R that is a drag radial tire. the NT555 is NOT.

I have the Nitto 305/45R-18 tires on the rears, and stock tire on the front.

I guess as long as the rears turn slower than the fronts the T/C will behave itself??

I have choices between 13 rev/mile difference to 51 rev/mile difference since I don't have widened rims!! The OEM difference is 35 rev/mile.

If the T/C acts up...I'll turn that sucker off!!

ABS shouldn't be an issue in any case...should it?? I guess this is true since ABS kicks in when a wheel STOPS rolling.

BTW....Any of you priced tires lately?? They are going up fast.....In fact I have a friend who says a trailer manufacturer he knows cannot get tires for the trailers he builds (Tracter Trailers).........I guess sooner or later we'll be getting everything from China!! Wonder how we will pay for it??
