    Rattling noise from engine

I have a loud rattling noise that sounds like it's coming from the front of the engine on start up, after a minute or two it goes away. I don't believe it's a lifter because that would be a tapping noise. I've had this issue for a while and have grown used to it but I know it needs to be corrected. No check engine light or lack of performance. Any help would be appreciated.

Timing chains. Search for it, plenty of stuff from this website.

that would be timing chain slap, due to worn guides/tensioners. well documented on here. Take care of it as soon as possible as it will eventually get worse. Try using a motorcraft oil filter first, a lot of the different brand filters dont have the special anti drain back valve. that may be the cause of ratltle on start up
