    Well finally got the receiver/dryer in, the picture shows that steel is a bad idea, did a complete service and now it's nice and frosty and holds freeon, definitely go aluminum, especially if your on the east coast

    Aluminum and salt don't play well together either. I replaced mine with aluminum unit from NAPA. I did not replace the foam cover. Mine is a summer ride now anyway.

    Maybe paint the aluminum with POR 15 and a good enamel top coat or have it powder coated.

    Ok accumulator replaced still leaking freeon, I added die and this was the result, die on the firewall where the a/c is going through the firewall, any suggestions?

    If you're seeing dye on the firewall, then either the evaporator is leaking, or there's an issue with the connections to it. Try new o-rings first.

    Did you replace seals as suggested when accumulator was done ? Lot of good info on this site from knowledgeable people.
