    drag tire whats better

My introduction into drag racing was with Sportbike's were traction isn't the issue keeping the front end down is. Due to my new found power I'm curious as to what the benefits/disadvantages of each setup at the Track are?

    Drag Radials-Nitto NT05R P305/45R18

    OR

Bias Ply Slicks-Mickey Thompson ET streets 28x11.5-16

Having never driven on bias ply Slicks, I guess the talk of top speed wobble and how this feeling can be made worse by mixing radials and bias ply tires concerns me. I'm looking for opinions and suggestion thanks

I do 118mph on ET streets. The wobble is there but doesn't bother me, the car isn't going to go anywhere. Very nice tires, and a good cheaper alternative for me since the 295s rub a bit, so I have doubts about 305s fitting fine on my car + they fit on a cheap rim.

They will make you wobble once you get faster...and over time, if you do not match the fronts, it will become down right dangerous.
Once I got into the mid to low 11's, it was unbearable.

Get the Nittos....or the MT'S in radial form same size...
Oh yeah...it's highly recommended you widen the wheel for those 305/45's.

I have run both. Can't get traction with Nitto DR below 55*.

I switched to the MT ET w/ tubes. At 18psi they are fine, but depending on your set up you may need to go with 14psi which requires a tall bottle of courage at the top end on occasion based on track conditions.

My opinion about the Nitto DR is they are a crappy street tire and a crappy track tire. One big compromise and I will never buy them again. They are only good for a burn out contest.

Many have spoken highly about the MT DR.

You can do a search on threads I started for a detail.

    See Pic for how bad Nitto DR are in cool weather;

Supposedly the all new NT05R's are a no compromise drag radial not like the the old NT555R's. . I'm not looking to build an all out drag car just a fun street car that I can take to the track occasionally and not blow the tire's off, leaning twards the drag radials due the the stability issue at speed.

Nick use the drag radials. The ETs are not safe unless you get bias ply for the front of the car.

I have a street tune and street tires. The street tune shreds the street tires.

When I go to the track I switch to track tires so I have traction. Going to the track and not getting traction is a huge waste of time and money.

At high HP levels I doubt a street tire will get traction at the track. I have not tested the new generation of DR. Every time I go to the track I look and ask what people are running. I have heard good reviews on the MT DR.

Has anyone run a MM at the track with 500+RWHP on the new generation DR, either Nitto or MT?

I have them and blow them off at the track. The only good thing is the car tracks good at high speed. I also have the ETs and they do not hook good enough. The DRs are a little smaller. The ETs picked up over .4 tenths! Just need to buy a true slick for the car and change at the track. You can buy radial slicks and that is the direction I am going.

I forgot about those, sucks they only offer them in 15 inch rims. IIRC a 15 inch rims will not clear the brake's on the MM
