Looking to replace my DD 1998 Ranger.

    Looking at:

2018 F150 XL, 3.3l V6, automatic, vinyl seats, rubber mat instead of carpet, some of the bells and whistles, 3K miles for about $30K.

2013 F150 XLT, 3.5l twin turbo V6, automatic, cloth seats, carpet, alot of the bells and whistles, 22K miles, for about $22k.

Will be test driving both in the next day or two.

Don't plan on any towing / off roading, will be a DD, less than 300 miles a week.

Opinions on which one to buy?

If you flew Corsair's during the war you'll like the Eco Turbo. Personally I'd find a 5.0l if I was looking at Ford.

Depends how fast you want your pick-up.
Either is light years ahead of the old Rangers in terms of technology, ride comfort and performance.
The 3.5L EcoBoost is very quick.
    The 3.3L N/A V6 gets good MPG.

My personal preference for a powertrain is the 2.7L Ecoboost with the 10 speed transmission.
Best of both worlds. (Except that you need to pay 40+ large for a new F150! )

I honestly wouldn’t take even a brand new Ram free of charge. I’d happily drive my beater till I could afford a truck. LOL

    Seriously.

Edit: I’d take the free one! It would make for a quick flip.

Only 18 on the highway? My 18 3.5 EB 4x4 gets almost 17 and its hardly ever on the highway.

A quick search on the f150 forums will give you some better insight.

I personally would stay away from used turbo anything. Cam, timing chain & turbo issues it seems.

Run an OASIS, if you are buying from a Ford dealer, they will provide it for free.

    Good luck.
