    St. Thomas Plant Tour

Thanks to MOK I am aware of a St. Thomas meet/plant tour organized by CrownVic.net members. They had their last tour June 13-15, 2003. The weekend included an evening at the St. Thomas dragway.

I have some questions as a result.

    1. How many MM owners would want to and be able to come to St. Thomas?

    2. Would it be preferable to have our own MM tour instead? I am presuming that you need a minimum number of participants before they'll run a plant tour for you.

    3. Would joining the CVN group be just as good? (assuming they'll let us join, and assuming that they are doing it again next year)

    Other thoughts:

-if we joined the CVN group, the date would be whatever they choose, likely June again. On our own, other dates could be chosen.

-total number of MM attendees wouldn't matter if we joined the CVN group

-joining CVN means the legwork of preparation is already done; an MM event would mean more focus in terms of any discussions with Ford people and amongst ourselves

-please bear in mind that I have a) no idea how hard it is to arrange a plant tour, b) no experience as a tour guide, and c) no idea what dates might even be available.

I'm sure there are other questions and ideas. Just speaking for myself, I'd love to go and wouldn't mind joining up with the CVN group.

PS, if anyone else is working on this idea, great! Let us know.

No problem joining up with the CV group. Charles (MTL_CV) invited me to go along with him this past year but my 2003's been a little hectic so I had to pass.

Strength in numbers... it's probably easier to get a tour when joined up with the CV group. Nothing wrong with joining "as a group" as this shows our solidarity, but if anything it increases our exposure.

I went with the crown vic guys this past June, they were great and welcomed me with open arms. I just talked tonight with the Motown Marauders about going next year, and I think there would be at least 7 or more of us going next year. I dont think there is much of a minimum to book a tour. If you remember, they invited us all to attend, even posted here with a link to all the info on going to STAP, and I was the only Marauder to show up, so I dont know if we made too good of an impression. Myself and the Michigan group will be going, so if someone wants to check it out with St Thomas and find out, so be it. It would be nice to go with a decent group, but face it, folks arent going to trek to far to see an assembly factory! Here in the Detroit area, it was just a little more than an hour drive, and made for a nice day trip. Let me know what your thoughts are.....

MI2QWK4U, you were ahead of your time. I didn't even know about MM.net until I joined in August, let alone a STAP tour. So, are you and the Michigan group definitely going to the CVN meet?

SILVER, the info at the CVN site says 18 yrs + for plant tour.
